The next Monday, eight days after Liv found out she had lost her phone and got the phone of a stranger. Because of the locked sim, the lead to the person ended too quickly. Jasper tried to track Liv's phone with the Find my iPhone app, but it didn't give them the outcome they wanted. Her phone was still at Glastonbury, right at the spot she had send the texts to Oliver and Isabelle she lost them.Jasper called the festival organisation, and they said they didn't found a phone, nor someone brought in a phone. It meant someone took it. Or replaced it with its own phone on purpose.
Liv got an old phone from her mother with an old number in case of emergency. The father advised waiting one more week. Liv didn't mind not having her phone around. It gave her full attention to the last assignments for school, and it gave her the ability to read a lot. It was like an anti detox from her phone.
It was a day off for Liv., she decided to go for a reading day in the garden. She walked off the stairs with the book under her arm, pressed against her body, while she was holding two thee cups in her both hands.
"Liv!" Jasper yelled.
Her steps became slower. Not now. "Jas!" She yelled back, dropped the cups in the kitchen and entered the living room. "What do you want?"
"I need you to come with me."
"No, you do not." She walked towards the doors what led to the garden.
Jasper cleared his throat. "I do. I got tickets to the McLaren HQ for a tour, but Will can't make it. So can you come with me?"
Liv turned around and faced her brother, who was sitting on the couch. "Don't you have other friends to go with? Finn? Owen?"
"Nope, both out of town."
She deeply breath in and looked at her book. "Why me?"
"It is today, in an hour. And you are the only who can come with me." He brought a cup of coffee up to his lips and took a sip.
"Hmm-hmm. I got college stuff to do, sorry," Liv said and shrugged, turning towards the garden.
The sun was shining outside, and it looked delightful to be out. The skin of Liv was steaming for the warm touch of the sun. She was wearing a white top with spaghetti straps and denim short.
"Sure you do," Jasper said sarcastically. "You're having a day off, you just told mum."
Liv turned back around. "Why can't you take a no for an answer?"
"You haven't said no one single time."
"Indirectly."
"Liv," Jasper sighed and got up. "Please? I will buy you dinner."
She pressed her lips into a thin line. A day in the garden with a good book or a day at McLaren with free dinner afterwards. Her eyes found Jasper's, there was a sparkle of hope in his eyes.
"Fine." He sighed in relieve. "But let me change," Liv smiled. "As in cars, right? Not those F1 cars? And I get to choose where we are gonna eat."
"Thanks so much. It's more like the background of McLaren, maybe it will be a ticket to a job or internship."

If there was someone in the building of McLaren who wasn't a fan, then it was Liv. The speed, the cars, it wasn't really Liv's cup of tea. And there were races or a Grand Prix, and all they did was driving the same lap after lap. Maybe it was a thing Liv didn't see the fun in, but she was not a fan of it.
