Song » Friend like me by Will Smith (Aladdin)
Liv's eyes fell on the cappuccino of Carlos, and she pressed her lips into a thin line. It looked delicious, she couldn't deny that, but in the afternoon?
"Liv," Lando whispered in her ear. "Stop judging."
She looked at him and squeezed her eyebrows together. "I'm not judging. Who or what should I be judging?"
"That cappuccino," he smirked. "Look, I know you are a pro in making those things, but you can't judge other people's work."
She turned her head towards Carlos and looked at the cappuccino again. "Neh, I'm not." She tilted her head to the right and tightened her jaw. "I'm not."
Carlos studied Liv's face and looked at Lando. "Is there something wrong?"
"Your face speaks volumes," Lando chuckled.
Liv parted her lips. "My Italian part is just having an error404 right now, but that is on me. Don't worry about anything, it is me." She smiled and noticed the questionable looks on the faces of Isa, Lando and Carlos. "Cappuccino after noon is just not done, like really not done. Not where I come from. But it's fine, drink your cappuccino."
"See, judging," Lando whispered in her ear again.
Liv rolled her eyes and sighed. "Just saying." Their eyes met, and they both giggled.
"So you're Italian?" Isa asked curiously and put some honey in the tea.
Liv nodded. "Well, my dad is Italian," she smiled proudly.
They started to talk about daily topics in England, Isa and Carlos told about Spain and Lando talking about the last few raced. Saying it was sad, there was only one race left in the season and how odd it felt.
"So you can't go to Abu Dhabi next week?" Lando disappointedly asked.
"Nope, I'm sorry," Liv softly said and gave him a weak smile. She really wanted to and he hoped she would come, it was the last race of the season after all. "I have important stuff coming up for school. Presentations before the weekend and exams after the weekend. And it's not that I can go and be back in a few hours." She looked at him and saw the disappointment in his eyes. "I promise I will visit you next season as much as I can, alright?"
"No, it's fine. I understand," he faked a smile and padded her knee. "Excuse me," he said and got up. He walked off to the toilets and shook his head in disappointment.
Liv sighed and pressed her lips into a thin line.
"You can't make it next race," Carlos figured it out.
She shook her head. "School is being a pain in the arse, just like always."
A smile captured his face when he came up with an idea. "Is it really important?"
"Yes, it is."
"Important as in 'I really can't miss it' or important as in 'I can't really miss it, but it is alright if I do'?" Carlos asked and leant on the table. Liv frowned. "Can you miss it? Is there someone who can record that presentation and is there a resit for your exams?"
"I don't know. Why?" Liv had no idea what Carlos was trying to do.
He looked around, scanning the area to see if Lando was coming back. "Look, I know how badly he wants you to be at his last race. I can make it work if you want to. I think, I know, he would like it when you will be there. What if you surprise him, in Abu Dhabi?"
Liv politely smiled. "I really like your idea, and I absolutely want to go, but...school," she rejected his offer. "Everything is better than school of course, but..."
"I will fix this, on behalf of McLaren. Just don't tell Lando, I will fix this before tomorrow," he quickly said when he caught Lando in the corner of his eye.
Isa shook her head. "You can't do that, Carlos."
"I can. Watch me," he widely smiled and wiggled with his eyebrows. "You alright with that?" He asked Liv for the last time.
She nodded. "I mean, I will see what will happen if you get it done," she snorted and bounced with her leg. Postpone all her work and school, not a really bad thing as I would like to say it for myself.
"Watch and learn, Liv. Nobody has a friend like me, I'm a genius. I am the smooth operator," Carlos showed off. "I will send you the details."
Lando sat down next to Liv again. "Send the details of what?" He curiously asked.
Isa widened her eyes and looked at Carlos, who looked at her and parted her lips. Liv cleared her throat and straightened her back. "The details of the race," she made up. "Like the times and stuff..."
Lando slowly nodded and thought it was a suspicious situation. "Alrighty," he sighed. "That is a bit weird, but fine," he mumbled.
Liv looked at Carlos, and she pressed a cheeky smile on her lips. Carlos needed to keep his face expression under control, not to smile widely. It was like a little secret for Lando.
