Song » How could you leave us by NF

This wasn't how Lando thought the first sleepover would be. Liv had calmed down, and she was able to laugh or smile at his stupid jokes. They cooked a meal together and watched a movie. Liv was off, Lando noticed that, but he knew it was the best to not talk about it, not when she wasn't the conversation starter about her sister.

Lando made a cup of coffee for himself and let everything sink in. A nineteen-year-old girl and already having a novel filled with horrifying moments. He took a sip and looked outside. Losing your twin sister at the age of seventeen, witnessed how it happened over the phone and blame yourself for not noticing the messages on time. It made him sigh, that isn't easy to live with. He knew it wasn't Liv her fault, but he could understand why she thought she was the one who could prevent it from happening, why she blamed herself.

He ran his hand through his hair. "My goodness," he let out and shook his head. That is just insane. Lando yawned and placed two bowls on the counter, ready for making breakfast.

Liv opened her eyes and blinked a few times. The bed she was laying in wasn't familiar to her. Not even the fabric softener. Her eyes widened, and she sat up, where am I? Her heart started to race in her chest. She was looking for her phone, but then she realised she was at Lando's. A relieved sigh left her lungs, and she let herself fall on her back again on the soft mattress. She closed her eyes again and deeply inhaled.

Courtney.

Small tears filled her eyes, but she blinked them away. Empty, her body felt empty. Liv placed the collar of the hoodie over her mouth and looked at the ceiling. She forced herself not to think about Courtney, not when she was at Lando's. The silence didn't help her, it began to annoy her. She could hear her own heart rate, it freaked her out. A shock went through her body went she heard movements from the living room.

Tears burned in her eyes. Her lip started to tremble. Liv pressed her lips on each other when she felt it. The muscles of her chin began to tremble like a small child. Pearl-Shaped tears rolled down her cheek. Followed by another one, and another one, and another, until soon, a steady stream of salty tears flowed its way down her cheeks. She could hear her own sounds; heavy sobs tearing from her throat and sniffs. She closed her eyes and hoped it would stop, but it became worse.

Salty tears fell down her chin, drenching her shirt. Her heart yank in and out her chest. It pulled in like a yoyo. In and out, over and over again.

Two knocks on the door made her stop with sobbing. She gasped for air and let her eyes rest on the door. Liv's hands grabbed the sleeves of her shirt, and she squeezed in it in her fists. She dried her cheeks and looked down at it. She cleared her throat and pressed a smile on her face when she caught Lando in the door opening. Nothing is going on.

"Good morning," Lando smiled and walked over to her.

"Hey." Her voice sounded hoarse.

"I have made breakfast. Carlos is picking me in in thirty," he shared with her and saw down next to her on the side of the bed.

The smile on Lando's face disappeared when he saw her watery eyes. He parted his lips and looked at her. It was silence between them. He opened the blanket, giving Liv a hint she needed to make space for him. Lando crawled under the blanket and placed his arms around her. Liv turned on her side and snuggled against him. They were laying tightly against each other, but they both didn't mind. Liv placed her forehead against his chest and fought against the new tears.

Liv could feel the warmth, sliding down her cheek. Then another. And another. Until her eyes flood with them, coming like a rainfall. Sniffing every ten seconds, they fall and fall, and she let them.
