If I look at you, I see her

"Hey Olaf," Giuseppe said when his daughter entered the living room of their home. He closed the newspaper, folded it and placed it on the table.

There was a weak smile on Liv's face what only lasted for a few seconds. She sat down on the couch next to her dad and looked at him. "Hello."

"How are you?"

She shrugged. "I don't know...I don't know, dad," she whispered and shook her head. "Not great, not on this day."

He nodded and grabbed her hand. "I understand."

She took a deep breath. "How was yesterday?"

"Hmm, fine. Just normal, we just finished the campaign. But I'm sure it won't last for long. Oh, I saw Christina and George yesterday. They said hi."

"Thanks. How are they?"

"Great. They moved to London a couple of years ago and were here for family. Christina works for a magazine now, and George is still a stay at home dad."

It made Liv smile. Christina was an old friend of the mother of Liv; Amelia. They moved to the city five kilometres away when Christina met George, and they got kids a few years after that.

"That is good to hear. It's been a while since I saw them," she replied, her voice was fragile, but she was trying so hard.

Giuseppe nodded. "It's your mum's choice if she wants to visit Christina."

"I agree," she breathed.

Jasper walked off the stairs and heard the voice of Liv coming from the living room. For a split second, he thought he heard the voice of Courtney. It was the date, the date he wanted to forget, this day was worse.

When he entered the living room, he saw his little sister and father chat with each other. Probably to avoid the thoughts of her. He looked at Liv and saw an unfamiliar hoodie on her upper body.

"Where were you last night?" Jasper didn't even think about the words, it blurted with no content.

Liv looked at him. "I'm sorry?" She squeezed her eyebrows together and looked annoyed at him. "What do you want?"

"You weren't home last night. Where were you?" He asked again and raised his voice.

"Jas..." Giuseppe shushed Jasper and gave him a deadly look while shaking his head.

"What?" Jasper sneered. "Do you know where she was?"

"I was at Isabelle's. Why do you care so much? It is not like you are my father," Liv said and pressed her lips into a thin line. He didn't need to know she was at Lando's, not now.

He nodded. "Why didn't you let me know?"

"Because you're not my dad? Because in fact, he is right sitting next to me and I am pretty sure he is your dad too, Jasper. Leave me alone."

"Olivia..."

Liv sighed. "What do you want from me? Okay, alright, I could have texted you, but I am nineteen years old. I don't have to tell you everything I do, who I talk to, where I go to," she grumbled.

"I don't want..." He turned away from them and looked outside. He tried not to think about it, he tried to avoid those thoughts, but he couldn't stop thinking about Courtney. It was like there was a curse laying on his shoulders.

Amelia smiled when she sat down on the couch next to her husband. How much she tried to smile genuinely, it was fake. She was glad she had a short day at work, she no longer drew it anymore. But there was a lot of tension at home. Coming home and hearing the argument between Jasper and Liv was an awful way to start the afternoon.
