The following chapter will be from Shownu's POV. This is the same day that Yuri's parents accepted the engagement...
"Young Master Shownu, your parents have requested a meeting with you," My butler, Mr. Kim, said. His bald head was peeking into bedroom. I was busy doing homework, mind distracted by thoughts of Yuri.
"Oh," I looked at the clock above my desk. It was about 4 pm, an odd time for my parents to even be home. Usually they were only available to speak to me past 6.
'It must be important...'
I walked into the relaxation room, where my parents were already seated with tea and pastries. My father glanced up from his newspaper at me, setting it on the table. My mother sat up straighter when I walked in, beaming at me as usual.
"What's going on?" I asked, brow raised in confusion.
"Well..." my mother's cheery voice trailed off, and she glanced at my stoic father, "Something... has come up."
"Another business trip abroad?" I asked, "You don't have to tell me like this..."
Usually they left for business trips without a word. There were many birthdays and holidays I spent in this mansion alone, without notice, because important business had called.
"No, no," Mother shook her head, chuckling, "It's a little more important than that..."
"What then?" I asked, arms folded across my chest.
"Your little girlfriend," Father finally spoke up, looking me directly in the eye, "Her name was... Kwon Yuri, right?"
I nodded, much more confused now than when I first walked into the room, "Yeah... why do you ask?"
"Well..." Mother continued, "she's been engaged to the Lee Family's boy."
I paused, unsure I heard her correctly.
"No, you must be mistake," I shook my head, laughing at the absurdity, "She hates that guy."
"Well, we have it on good authority that the Lee Conglomerate has married off their heir to a commoner named Known Yuri," Father continued, "And, to make sure we were correct, I had my assistant look if there were any other Kwon Yuris are you school. But she is the only one."
"Which means he must be engaged to your girlfriend," Mother nodded.
"W-what..." I muttered, staring down at the floor.
None of this made any sense. Why would... why would Yuri get engaged to Wonho? She hates Wonho! Something just wasn't adding up.
"I'm sorry, honey," Mother said, voice sweet as candy. She was trying to comfort me, but it wasn't sincere. "Sometimes you just can't trust those people. Yuri is a sweet girl, but she's nothing like us. This is probably for the better."
I scoffed, "You don't know what you're talking about."
Father rolled his eyes before continuing, "We have all of the details. The Lee Conglomerate made an offer to the Kwon Family for engagement. The parents accepted the engagement earlier today. These are the facts."
'The parents...' my mind raced, 'if the parents accepted, then maybe Yuri knew nothing about it... I mean, she was acting completely normal today. There's no way she knew about this.'
Especially when taking into consideration that Yuri has been fighting so hard for our relationship. If she was going to accept an engagement from Wonho, she wouldn't have told me to stop being friends with Harin.
