ERYK'S POV:

I followed him into his room, he didn't bother to close the door nor did he instruct me to do so and that made me feel much better about what was going to happen. He sat down at his desk and I reluctantly sat down across from him, wanting this conversation to be over with as soon as possible.

"Is this about what chores you want me to make Cody do tomorrow?" I asked bluntly.

"No, I want you to let Cody rest some for the day."

That was unexpected.

"However, I need you to do some errands for me, mostly meaning I need you to go to the convenient store just a few blocks away and get some stuff." He handed me a list of all the stuff I would be getting.

Stamps, envelopes, bread, eggs, milk....etc. There wasn't a lot but this would be the perfect opportunity for me to bring Cody and show him around the town more, and to get him out of this house for a while.

"Do you remember where the post office is? Right across from the supermarket?" He motioned with his hands as if he wanted me to imagine specifically where everything was.

"Yeah, I remember. What do I have to do there? Do you have something that needs to be mailed?"

"Yes," He reached in the drawer to his left and pulled out a large yellow envelope. "it is absolutely imperative that you take this to the post office, go inside to the front desk and ask for this to be mailed priority." He passed it to me.

To Mr. Bryan Trotter to be delivered to Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Trotter? He was our attorney during the trial.

"Our attorney?" I asked shakily. "This isn't about Jeff's sentencing, is it?"

"No, no it's nothing to be concerned about," He waved his hands in a placating manner. "it's only the custody papers and such. But they have to be mailed tomorrow." He emphasized.

"Yes sir."

"This is my debt card," He pulled out a blue card from his wallet. "use it to buy some snacks for the weekend, but within reason. Please don't lose it."

"I won't." I took it from him.

"Alright, thank you Eryk." That was basically his way of telling me that I can go.

With that in mind, I exited the room without another word and returned to my bedroom where I continued to watch Cody. ____________________________________________________________________________

ERYK'S POV:

I woke up with an extremely bad headache, I felt like I was just hit by a train as a piercing sting generated from the center of my forehead and decreasingly spread to my hairline. I have no idea what time I actually fell asleep last night. I kept tossing and turning, tired enough to not want to do anything, not like I could anyhow, but not tired enough to actually empty my mind and fall asleep.

I looked over at Cody, he was awake but he was barely moving and his attitude didn't seem to change from the last time I talked to him last night. He laid on his stomach, his left hand playing and picking at the end stand near his bed as if he were bored. Perfect opportunity for me to tell him about our detour for the day.

"Hey Cody, we need to get dressed and go to the store."

"Why?" He asked, showing absolutely no interest.

"Charlie needs a few things, but he said we can grab stuff for the weekend." I said trying to excite him.

"Go ahead without me."
