*Okay guys, so I've gotten some requests about changing perspectives and also about other family members so I want to dedicate this chapter to that.*
CHARLIE'S POV:
I called the boys downstairs and invited them to join me in the living room. I had some exciting news I wanted to share with them, but I'll admit I was extremely apprehensive of what their reaction will be. Taking a minute to gather my thoughts, I crossed my arms and tried to put on a steady face.
"My half brother, Bryan is coming to visit today. He's traveling on business and I invited him to swing by before he heads out to West Virginia."
"Half brother? So our uncle?" Cody asked as he glanced at Eryk.
"Yes, we don't see each other often because of conflicting work schedules and he is usually traveling."
"What does he do again?" Eryk chimed in.
"He is an assistant principal at North Haven Academy for boys."
"Right." He nodded his head.
"I trust you both will be respectful and polite. He is a very easy-going guy when you get to know him, even though he does take himself too seriously sometimes." I shrugged my shoulders and tried to smile at their concerning faces. "He'll stay for dinner and then be on his way."
"When will he be here?"
"In an hour, so go clean your rooms and get dressed." I motioned upstairs.

ERYK'S POV:I had to tell Cody to wear decent clothes and not his usual sweatpants, go figure. Of course he complained about having to wear jeans but I assured him that it'll be worth it so we can enjoy our movie night.
"What's Bryan like? Charlie was definitely holding something back." He asked as he brushed last me in the bathroom and started brushing his teeth.
"Um, I'm not entirely sure. I've only met him the one time and it was very brief."
"No, come on. You're good at reading people, you must know something about him." He stopped to shoot me his begging look.
"He's a real hard-ass to be honest. Charlie wasn't joking when he said he takes himself way too seriously. I know he's much older than Charlie too and I know he's much more strict."
"Nuh huh, no way." He mumbled with residual spit flow from his mouth.
"Yes way. Bryan worked for the Academy that utilizes corporal punishment inside the classrooms. Charlie wanted me to attend school there but it was too far away, thank God."
"So basically just keep my mouth shut and I'll be okay?"
"Pretty much." I sighed as I finished buckling my pants.
We returned to our room and made sure that everything was in order but then we were left anxiously awaiting his arrival. Cody hardly said anything to me so we sat in silence in the bedroom, my mind desperately trying to remember anything useful about him but it's been years since then. I mean as long as Cody can keep his crude humor to himself for the day he should be fine. Otherwise, all Bryan will actually do is just ask us questions but hopefully not too many.
Cody seemed relaxed despite meeting a new person, which he usually shys away from or let's his nerves build up. Somehow I can't help but feel he seems too relaxed, this isn't like him and there has to be a reason why. Jeff left a lasting scar on us both, leaving us forever skeptical of any unknown persons entering our lives.
"Boys, Bryan's here." Charlie called.
Cody and I slowly walked down the stairs, both eager yet cautiously optimistic to see Charlie's half brother for the first time. Well technically for the second time for me but it's been so long and it was so brief. I took a large step, trying to silence the pounding thoughts in my head as I began to see the bottom of his feet emerge from behind the lower level above the steps. He still looked the same; neat haircut, thick black hair, khaki pants with a collared shirt button down, tall and large figure, and beady eyes.
