"Isn't summer wonderful?" you ask Anne and Diana on your way to school. "It is!" they both say at the same time. "the sun is shining so bright this morning!" Anne says smiling. you twirl around causing Anne and Diana to chuckle. "why are you so happy this morning?" Diana asks causing you to smile. "I don't know just woke with a smile I suppose" you say chuckling. you look around the wood once again and your smile dissappears. Gilbert Blythe is staring at you. he winks at you causing you to roll your eyes. "would you excuse me" you walk away from Anne and Diana and walk towards Gilbert.
"what are you doing?" you ask with a frown. Gilbert chuckles. "I'm flirting with you" he says with a small smirk. "well stop it" you say in an angry tone. "hmm..." Gilbert pretends to be deep in thoughts. "... no" he says causing you to sigh. "why not?" you asks with your arms crossed. "because you're cute" he says with a bigger smirk. you just roll your eyes and walk away. you can't help but have a small blush appear on your face. "that boy is driving me mad!" you whisper-shout at Diana and Anne when you approach them at the schoolhouse. they both chuckle. "He is so annoying!... and the worst thing is... I... I think I like him..." you widen your eyes at your own words.

how on earth did I fall for Gilbert Blythe.

Diana gasps softly. "you should tell him Y/n" she says putting a hand on your shoulder. "no...he's just a flirt... I'm not letting him break my heart" you say walking into the school house. you hang up your coat and hat and take a seat seeing Gilbert staring at you. butterflies errupt in your stomach as you look at him. he winks again causing your cheeks to flush red. you quickly look away and open your book. you try to hide your face with your hair. you can't focus on the lesson as you keep repeating Gilbert's words in your head.

did he mean that or is he just messing around? at lunch you walked out to meet with your friends when someone suddenly touched your shoulder. "hey Y/n" you turned around to meet Gilbert's sparkling eyes. "hello Gilbert" you said in an annoyed tone. he chuckled softly. "you know we'd make such a cute couple" he said with a smirk. you slightly widened your eyes while your cheeks flushed red. "no we wouldn't!" you said almost yelling. "you're blushing" Gilbert said as his smirk got bigger. "I am not! and stop that!" you said angrily. "you're cute when you're angry" Gilbert said staring into your eyes sending shivers down your spine. "shut up" you said trying to hide your red cheeks but it was of no use. "make me" he said raising his eyebrows. "kiss me and I'll shut up" he added smirking again. you scoffed. "bye Gilbert" you said before walking of. you walked towards your friends on the other side of the schoolhouse and leaned against the wall releasing a deep breath you didn't even know you were holding. "what's wrong?" Diana asked rushing over to you. "Gilbert Blythe is gonna be the death of me" you said a little out of breath. "h-he told me to kiss him. can you believe that!?" you asked with wide eyes. "oh my.." Diana said with wide eyes. "and did you?" Anne asked also widening her eyes. "of course not!" you yelled out. "he's crazy flirting with me like that in front of everyone!" you added as you looked around to see if he was anywhere near. much to your relieve he wasn't. you spent your lunch constantly thinking about Gilbert.

maybe I should try to avoid him.

But as much as you tried to avoid him he would always find a way to talk to you and he would still stare at you in class. and one saturday afternoon you found yourself taking a walk with him.
"I can't believe you talked me into this. I should just turn around and walk away right now" you say as you walk into the forest with Gilbert by your side. "please don't" he said chuckling softly. you give him a small smile. "did you just smile at me?" he asks with a smirk. you roll your eyes. "I most certainly did not" you said annoyed. Gilbert chuckled slightly. "it's getting late maybe we should be heading back" you say as the sky changed colors. "watch the sunset with me" Gilbert said as he took your hand. you widened your eyes at his sudden touch. you felt tingles in your body as you watched Gilbert's eyes sparkle. "fine" you said, but you let go of his hand. he looked a little disappointed. Gilbert led you up a hill with an amazing view. "here come sit" Gilbert said sitting down in the grass. you sat down next to him but keeping your distance. you stared at him and how the sun hit his face while he was staring in the distance. suddenly he looked at you and sends you a wink causing you to look away blushing.

crap he caught me staring.

Gilbert didn't look away. he kept staring until you stared back. your heart started beating faster as he leaned closer. his eyes focused on your lips. you leaned closer as well before snapping out of the moment and slightly turning your head away. "don't look at me like that" you said leaning back a little. Gilbert shook his head. "why won't you let me kiss you already?" he asked. "because I don't have feelings for you" you said looking away from him. "If you don't have feelings for me then tell me what you're feeling right now" he said moving closer and putting an arm around your waist. you felt your heart beating faster and you could almost feel Gilbert's breath. "fine. I'm in love with you! Is that what you wanted to hear!?" you yell causing Gilbert to jump back a little. "why are you mad?" he asked as he slowly took his arm away. "because you're playing with my feelings with all your stupid flirting. honestly you're driving me mad and if only you felt the same-" you got cut off by Gilbert. "what do you mean if only I felt the same?" he asked frowning. "to me it seems like you're just playing a game" you said as tears started formimg in your eyes. "I'm not playing a game Y/n. I've been in love with you since forever. I thought you knew that..." he said as he wiped a tear that came rolling down your face. your expression softened. "do it then" you said as you stared into Gilbert's eyes. "what?" he asked as he stared back at you his eyes still sparkling. "kiss me" you said softly. it was almost a whisper. but Gilbert heard and a smirk appeared on his face before he got closer and gently cupped your face crashing his lips on yours. your heart started beating faster as Gilbert softly bit your bottom lip. you held on to his shoulders as fireworks exploded in your stomach. you pulled away breathlessly as Gilbert had a grin on his face. "quit grinning like that" you said with a chuckle. "that's probably the first time you ever laughed in my presence" Gilbert said chuckling. you rolled your eyes. "something tells me that it's not gonna happen alot" you said causing Gilbert to smirk. "why are you looking at me like th-" Gilbert suddenly started tickling you causing you to burst out in laughter. "stop... it..." you tried to pull away from him but it was no use. when he finally stopped he was in top of you grinning like a little kid. "I'm so in love with you" he said. a blush appeared on your face and you sent him a smile. "kiss me again" you said as you brought your hand to his face gently stroking his cheek and he smirked one last time before your lips collided again.
