"So 10 p.m. tonight?" you asked Josie.

she nodded, "maybe bring something to drink," she said.

there was some sort of party tonight, at the beach, almost all of your friends were going, there was going to be a bonfire and there were rumors about alcohol.

"I'm so excited for tonight!" Ruby squealed from her seat behind you.

"me too!" you whispered, "I hope I'll be able to sneak out!"

"me too, if my parents found out we would all be dead," Diana said chuckling. you nodded.

"who's all coming?" Anne asked as she looked around the girls.

"well us, Tillie, Josie, Jane, Moody, Charlie, Billy and probably the Pauls," you said.

"won't Gilbert be there?" Ruby asked, pouting as she looked at you.

"I doubt it, but you could always ask him to come," you said. you secretly hoped he would come too.

"I can't do that?" Ruby exclaimed, looking at you as if you just laid an egg. her cheeks were bright red.

"well I'm not doing it either!" you said, giggling softly as you glanced over at Gilbert.

"oh you talk to him all the time!" Diana said, chuckling.

"I'm not gonna ask him to come! what if he thinks I like him?"

"well you kinda do, right?" Anne said causing your cheeks to flush red.

"well... maybe a little, but he doesn't need to know that!" you said causing your friends to chuckle.

"quiet down everybody and open your readers," Mr Phillips said, walking into the classroom, making everyone sigh.

he started his lesson, only no one was paying attention, everyone was too hyped for the party, all except for Gilbert Blythe, however he wasn't paying attention either.

he was reading in some medical book, while occasionally looking up to see if he missed anything.

you stared at him while your friends were whispering about the party. it was all they could think about, while Gilbert was over there, worrying about his future. It was so unfair, how he was forced to grow up this quick.

you sighed softly as you kept staring, it was no secret that Gilbert was the most handsome boy in Avonlea and you stared at him quite alot.

you could've sworn you saw him stare at you a few times, but your friends always told you, you were delusional.

Gilbert turned his head slightly, as he felt someone's eyes on him. he locked eyes with you, his eyes slightly widening as he sent you a smile.

you smiled back, before focusing on the lesson again, not wanting to seem creepy.

however Gilbert kept his eyes on you for some longer, wondering why on earth you were staring at him, while a weird feeling floated around in his stomach.

"I can't believe school is finally over, I can't wait for tonight," Ruby squealed as you walked out if the schoolhouse.

"we know Ruby, you've been talking about it non stop," you said, chuckling softly as you shook your head.

"well at least I wasn't the one staring at Gilbert the whole time," she said, raising her eyebrows.
