you sighed in your seat. class was almost over, and you had a rough day. you couldn't sleep the night before and you had a headache from all the whispering students.
you couldn't wait to go home and walk with Gilbert. Gilbert is one of your best friends, he lives close to you and you always walk to and from school together.
you have been friends with him for years, but secretly hoped that maybe one day, you two could be more. there was just something about him that made your knees go weak.
you looked over at Gilbert, a smile appearing on your face. he was focused on the lesson, while occasionally writing notes.
wait... should we be writing notes?
"that's all for today! class dismissed!" Mr Phillips said, wiping the blackboard clean.
you let out a relieved sigh as you closed your book and stuffed your belongings in your bag.
"hey," Gilbert said, walking up to your with a heartwarming smile. "are we walking together?"
"yea... just a second," you said, tying your shoes quickly as Gilbert waited for you, staring at your face. "I'm ready!" you said.
~
"what did you think of today's lesson?" Gilbert asked, as you slowly strolled home together.
"to be honest, I didn't pay any attention to it." you chuckled.
Gilbert shook his head, chuckling aswell. "you should be grateful you can look at my notes, or you'd definitely fail your exams."
I'd rather look at you writing those notes.
"thank you, I just... can't focus, I was preoccupied with... other things," you said.
"what kind of things?" Gilbert asked.
"that's none of your business, Blythe." you smiled at Gilbert, making him chuckle.
"forgive me for asking," Gilbert said, smirking. "are you doing anything this afternoon?" he asked.
"I have to help my mom bake a cake," you said, "you can help me if you want."
"I'd like that, but I'll warn you... I suck at baking," he said, scratching his head.
"is there anything you can do?" you asked, making Gilbert playfully roll his eyes.
"I can make girls fall in love with me." Gilbert tilted his head to the side, smirking. he was obviously joking, but you definitely agreed with him, every girl in avonlea was head over heals for Gilbert.
you soon bursted out in laughter and so did Gilbert. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I guess I'm quite good at studying, unlike some people I know."
you nudged Gilbert's shoulder, shaking your head. "nerd."
"but a very handsome nerd."
"hmm... you're alright," you said, shrugging.
"thanks Y/n, that means alot," Gilbert said sarcastically. he chuckled, all though he had really hoped you'd find him more then just 'alright'
