Chapter 19: Hayes, the worlds worst bodyguard

I sigh for the third time since Hayes was assigned to watch me with Gilinsky.

"Hold it straight! Stop shaking!" Gilinsky yells at poor Hayes who is being taught how to properly protect me with a gun. Let me tell you its not going well. Every time Hayes goes to shoot it, he closes his eyes. I totally understand though. I don't like guns myself.

"Stop closing your eyes! Your brother is in a damn gang! Why can't you be more like him!?" Gilinsky asks, I gasp as hayes looks hurt.

"Gilinsky!" I scream. He looks at me scared, I'm furious! He can't just compare hayes to Nash like that, because something tells me Nash has been a gang member for a while.

"Get over here now." He looks guilty as he walks over to me leaving Hayes with the gun. Probably not a good idea.

"Yes?" Gilinsky asks stopping in front if me.

"Stop being so mean to him! Can't you see you make him nervous!?" I scold crossing my arms.

"He should be nervous! We should all be nervous! He could turn on us at any minute!" I roll my eyes as he starts a rant. "He could be spying for his brother! He could harm you and plus," he gently takes my hand. "I don't like the way he looks at you....it makes me jealous..."

"Aww....gilinsky you know I'm yours though and Hayes is just a friend alright sweetie?" I give him a smile. He smiles back.

Suddenly a gun goes off. Gilinsky pulls me down on the ground and pulls his own gun out. I peek up to see Hayes staring at the gun in his hand. He must have accidentally fired it.

"What the hell is going on!?" Crawford asks running outside.

"You gave him a loaded gun!?" I ask standing up.

"I thought I took the bullets out!" Gilinsky says standing up.

"I put them back in.....I mean what if something happened while you were flirting with kenzie?" Hayes asks blushing.

"I wasn't flirting with kenzie!" Gilinsky says as kian and Chris come running out.

"Cause holding hands isn't flirting..." Hayes rolls his eyes.

"You were holding hands with my sister!?" Kian's eyes narrow and he reaches for his own gun.

"No! I fell and he was examing my hand for cuts!" I quickly lie. Kian looks at Gilinsky who nods and then at Hayes who slowly nods. Hayes then gives me a look saying that we'll talk about this later.

"Be careful with that gun alright?" Kian says before he walks back in the house. Chris walks over to Gilinsky and they whisper back and forth. I watch as Gilinsky goes tense as Chris grins. Chris then walks away leaving Gilinsky staring after him clearly pissed off.

"Gilinsky?" I softly say walking over to him.

"What?" he snaps.

"Woah....sorry." I take a step back but not before Gilinsky grabs my hand.

"No! I'm sorry...he just....he saw what happened between us...he didn't hear anything though....i just..have to be more careful till i get your brothers permission." Gilinsky sighs.

"You will. I'll talk to him. Alright?" I smile at him. He gives me a small smile back before going back to teaching Hayes, who looks more nervous now that he's accidentally fired the gun.

Suddenly i hear giggling coming from the alley. I turn to see Matt, his sister Mariah,and Gilinsky's sister, Stephanie walk into the backyard. Oh...shit. Stephanie turns and kisses Matt. I turn to see Gilinsky's head turn slowly and already know what's coming.

"What the fuck!?" Gilinsky says pulling out his gun and aiming at Matt.

"No Gilinsky!" I cry out running forward, but before i can get to Matt, a gun goes off.

"Matt!" I scream as Matt falls over clearly shot.

"Oh my god!" Stephanie cries out kneeling next to her boyfriend. Mariah starts crying and i race over to Matt and kneel next to him to see his arm is bleeding. I frown, if Gilinsky fired that shot that he would have hit in the dick not the arm. I turn to see Gilinsky staring at Hayes in awe.

"Hayes! What the fuck!" I scream.

"I'm sorry! I thought he was dangerous!" Hayes says.

"He is." Gilinsky says walking over and kneeling next to me.

"I hate you." Matt spits at Gilinsky.

"Yeah i don't like you either, but you are Kenzie's best friend so i have no choice but to help you." Gilinsky says before helping Matt up.

We quickly go inside and Gilinsky sets to work getting the bullet out of Matt's arm. I don't know who is more uncomfortable: Gilinsky, who has to watch his sister kiss Matt everytime he winces, or Matt who is clearly on the wrong turf and in the wrong house.

"Okay, Hayes if you fired one more gun....." Crawford starts walking into the kitchen. He stops seeing what's going on. "ummm. what is going on here? Matt why are you bleeding? Gilinsky why are you helping him? Mariah what are you doing here!?" Crawford starts firing questions.

Mariah quickly runs over to Crawford and hugs him.

"Oh my god it was horrible. Hayes shot Matt!" Mariah says clutching to Crawford a little to much to my liking. It's not like i like Crawford like that i just hate clingy bitches.

"I said sorry..." Hayes mumbles.

"Okay we need a new weapon for Hayes..." Gilinsky mumbles as he finishes bandaging Matt's arm.

"Agreed." I sigh as Matt examines Gilinsky's work.

"Thank you." Matt says noding to Gilinsky, who looks at me before replying,

"You're welcome." I smile. Aww they are getting along.

"No, i heard noise in the kitchen." We hear Chris say. My eyes go wide. Mariah and Matt can't be here!

"Hide them!" I say. Crawford quickly opens the sliding door and shoves Matt and Mariah out the door and shuts it standing in front of it. I see them move out of sight right as Chris walks into the room with Connor.

"Hey guys." Chris smiles and then frowns looking at the counter, where we left the bloody supplies from Matt's wound.

"Alright, who got shot?" Connor asks crossing his arms.

"Uh..." I look from Hayes, to Crawford to Gilinsky. None of us has an aswer.

"Me.." We hear. I turn to see Matt has reentered the kitchen with his sister.

"What are you doing here!?" Connor asks reaching for his gun.

"We left JC's gang...." My eyes go wide. Oh fuck.
