Chapter 20: Gang meeting

"So let me get this straight. You straight up told JC you guys were leaving his gang for mine and he let you?" Kian asks for the 30th time since he called this gang meeting. I was sitting on the couch next to Gilinsky and Hayes was sitting by my feet.

"Yes." Matt nods.

"I don't see why he would just let you two leave...." Connor asks crossing his arms. He was sitting in an arm chair with Chris sitting on the arm rest.

"Maybe because he knew that he would lead him to Kenzie." Crawford suggests. I glare at him from his spot next to Gilinsky on the couch. How could he turn on Matt like that?

"Maybe....." Kian says.

"What's the story with you two?" Trevor asks from his spot on the other side of Connor.

"Who?" Kian asks.

"Them two." Trevor points to both Mariah and Crawford, who both blush.

"There is no story. Matt introduced us when we were younger..." Mariah says. Crawford nods. I shake my head. It's so obvious they like each other.

"And the story with you two?" Trevor asks pointing to Matt and Stephanie. I feel Gilinsky tense up beside me. I gently place my hand on his leg and feel him slightly relax.

"We are dating. Simple as that." Matt shrugs.

"You have been seeing a member of JC's gang!" Kian screams at Stephanie. I can tell Gilinsky wants to defend his sister but he has no say in the matter.

"i'm sorry...." Stephanie looks down.

"How about the big question everyone has been wondering since that fight on the bridge." Chris starts. My eyes go wide. I kissed Gilinsky on the bridge. He wouldn't. I quickly remove my hand off his leg right as Chris says,

"Gilinsky and Kenzie." Everyone turns to look at us. Kian's eyes narrow.

"There is nothing going on between us." I say narrowing my eyes at Chris. He's going to get Gilinsky fired i know it.

"Really? You guys spend alot of time together, and you guys stand and sit awefully close to each other." Chris raises an eyebrow.

"What the hell Chris!?"

"I'm her bodyguard!" we both say at the same time.

"So defensive too." Chris smirks.

"That's enough!" Kian screams causing me to jump.

"Even if they were dating, which they are not." He gives me a firm look. "Gilinsky knows it is against our gang rules to date my sister and therefore he would be punished and baned."

"That's crap though kian!" I scream standing up.

"Do not raise your voice at me!" Kian screams back.

"Too bad! You can't just keep me in a damn tower for the rest of my life! I eventually have to go on a date and get married and have kids! you can't prevent that Kian!" I scream at him.

"No i can't., But i will not allow my gang to date my baby sister because that makes them as vulnerable as me!" he narrows his eyes at me. "My job is to protect everyone in this gang like a family."

"They aren't our family Kian!" I scream at him.

"They are MY family Kenzie! Family is family! Blood or not!" He says as if that settles the matter.

"What if i'm already dating someone in your family!" I say instantly regetting the words as i hear Gilinsky groan, Hayes gasp, and Crawford smack his forhead.

"Who?" Kian asks. His voice is deadly and i know i just signed someone's death warrant.

"Me!" I hear. I turn to see Hayes stand up. Oh god. What are you doing?

"Shes dating me..." Hayes slowly says taking my hand. Okay, this is awkward. Hayes is like a brother to me. Please don't make me kiss him.

"Hayes? You chose Hayes?" Chris exclaims.

"Quiet!" Kian commands.

"Look, dear powerful brother. Protect me all you want, but you can't stop me from being with a guy who cares about me." I sigh.

"True but i can do this." Kian pulls out his gun.

"No!" I scream pushing Hayes away from me and grunting as i feel myself get shot. I fly backward and then....nothing.
