Jailyn~

Watching from off to the side, it's kinda nice not being in the center of all the attention for once. Short of the World Series, Christian and I are either both having to entertain, or it's on me having to field everything on my own. It's really a different experience being able to be on the red carpet here and have no responsibilities of my own other than supporting my husband.

Christian is handling his interview with the main broadcast crew for the MLB Network as I stand on the sidelines with his publicist Andrew, and manager Joe. Just watching him, I can't help but smile seeing him work on this side of everything. The baseball side has always been fun to watch, but the things that are bigger than the sport always give me this weird sense of pride, even if he's been doing this since before I even knew he existed. Maybe it's something to do with how much I've fallen in love with his personality, that I can't help but want the world to be able to feel the same.

The three men up on the stage made up for the event laugh before Christian leans over and looks at me. We exchange a smile for a small moment before it looks to be back to business. Looks might've been the keyword there as there's a quick, "JJ," called out as I'm waved over to join them. Glancing at Andrew, he nods more than welcoming me to go join them. I'm not sure why I even bothered, both of our publicists love any opportunity for the two of us to attend an event, let alone getting interviewed together.

Taking the couple steps up, I greet the two commentators before taking my seat in the chair that was pulled up for me. "Hey, how's it going?" I ask, getting settled in as Christian smiles, his hand resting on my thigh under the table as mine rests on top of his.

"We were just asking Christian here how you were doing," The first commentator, Robert, starts before continuing, "His response was that you were right here, why not ask you?"

Scoffing, I roll my eyes, the smile not faltering on my face, "I'm doing good. It's really cool getting to be here for one of these. I was actually enjoying my time being able to just be on the sidelines at an event, but I guess here we are." My joke gets the appropriate laughs before we continue on.

"You just mentioned getting to be here for one of these, this is your first time at an All-Star Game, right?" The other commentator, Brian, asks.

"It is," I confirm, "He's been in three of these now since we've known each other, but this is the first one that I've been in the country for."

"How is the shoulder doing?" Robert asks, "For anyone who doesn't already know, Jailyn is a member of the US Women's National Softball Team. She's indisputably the greatest player that the sport has ever seen who unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury earlier this year when she collided with her teammate Natasha Banks. You had to have surgery to repair it, right?"

"Yeah," I start off, kinda annoyed that I'm in this position. This really wasn't supposed to be about me today. "It was a full separation of my shoulder, but as of right now everything has been as good as it can be. I got the surgery and as of a couple of days ago, I've been able to get rid of the sling which has been the biggest thing so far. My range of motion is pretty limited, but we're getting there. Obviously, an injury is never the way you want to end a season but it is what it is, and hey, at least I get to come out and support my husband this week."

"It is just this season, right? Nothing more serious?" Robert asks, making me shake my head quickly.

"No, definitely not. I've got plenty of time to re-strengthen my shoulder before next season rolls around. It's more or less just a waiting game now before I'm able to get back into the cages and get back to throwing again. In the meantime, I'll just catch up on some crappy reality TV." I joke, not really making a nod towards the whole Shelby debacle but knowing I probably shouldn't have said anything.
