Chapter Thirty-Seven
FightIt wasn't right to just leave like that.
Being unable to defend Jayden and his family from what came from Kingsley's parents made me disappointed with myself. But I know better than starting an upheaval with people I'm not familiar with.
Hindi naman kasinungalingan ang utang. But the things they said about Chloe and Jayden, they sound like downgrading them. What a typical Asian family... always gossips about other people's business.
I could have let the taxi drop me off by our house pero mas pinili kong magpababa sa bahay nila Jayden. I want to blow off steam. I didn't like what I heard from Kingsley's parents. I'm not blaming him though. In fact, I was brushed of the way he warned his parents midway.
Jayden must be out of school now.
I looked at a window on the second floor. I suddenly thought about Chloe and the things said about her. Chloe went there to pursue her dreams too. She won't lose on that.
"Almira?"
Jayden's voice came out from nowhere. His backpack is even hanging on one of his shoulders.
Mabilis ko siyang nilapitan at niyakap. He was caught in surprise. There's still that subtle scent of grapefruit in him.
"Ganda mo," bigla namang niyang sabi.
Namula agad ang pisngi ko.
"Na-miss kita," tanging nasabi ko.
I heard him chuckle. Hinaplos niya ang buhok ko. I moved back so I can see more of him. He held the side of my waist and stared at me innocently.
"Can I stay with you for a while?"
He pressed his lips firmly.
