"Dinner with the Limlengcos?"

Tumango ako kay Chloe. Her lips parted as she looked at me weirdly. I sighed as dried my hair with a towel. Maya-maya lang ay tatawagin na siguro ako ni Ate Weylan para mag-ayos.

I'm supposed to be in Meraki at 8:00 PM. I have to be earlier though before I leave a bad impression at Lola again. I went towards the dresser to do my usual skincare routine habang si Chloe ay humiga sa kama ko, her eyes fixed on the ceiling.

"Maiiwan na naman pala ako," biro niya.

I chuckled in response.

"It'll be quick. Dinner lang naman."

"Duh, you'll engage in a series of talks."

"I don't think I would be able to. Kung business nila ang pag-uusapan."

I just hope it'll be fast. Kung maaga ako makakauwi, pwede pa kaming mag-review ni Jayden sa common room. Before the night ends, he's still the person I wanted to see before I dug myself to bed.

Moments later, the phone in my dresser lit up showing a message from Jayden. Mabilis kong kinuha iyon while still minding Chloe on my side.

Jayden:

What time's your dinner?

"Sinama mo dapat si Jayden," Chloe said the moment I recognized Jayden's message.

I fixed my eyes to Chloe who was pouting before me. Bumuntong-hininga ako saka umiling.

"We wanted to leave a good impression towards Lola, Chloe." I informed Chloe about what Lola told me too. I also want her and Won to know what she was like. "Jayden and I talked about this already and he wanted not to."

Tumango sa akin si Chloe. Pinanood niya akong magtipa sa phone para sagutin si Jayden. Nasa kwarto niya siguro siya.

Ako:

8:00 PM :)

I don't want Jayden to think I don't like him going with in the dinner kaya nag-usap na kami kanina. Sa totoo lang ay gustong-gusto ko siyang isama para mas makausap at makilala pa ni Lola. However, as much as we wanted to earn Lola's respect, we need to start with putting the brakes on.

I want Lola to speculate that Jayden isn't the type to do all things with me; that even when we're together, he won't stop me from doing my errands; I won't stop him from doing his and we can still do things on our own.

Jayden:

Can I see you before going?

My lips turned into a sweet smile as I replied sure. Ibinalik ko ang tingin ko kay Chloe bago ibalik ang phone ko sa dresser.

"Kingsley is a Limlengco, right? Do you think he will be there?" Chloe asked.

She sat on the edge of the bed while she combed her hair with her fingers. Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay habang tumatabi sa kaniya.

"Hindi nabanggit ni Lola."

But if Kingsley is a Limlengco, he must be there. Iyon ay kung hindi pa siya nakakauwi simula noong huli kaming magkita sa hiking.
