Safe and sound

The clock ticked away. Every second it neared midnight. It was late in the enormous dark castle, but she couldn't sleep. She wasn't even tired as she looked out the large windows into the dark void. It was not the windows in her own room, as she had found herself sleeping easier inside his room the nights after he disappeared. But apparently it was hard to even sleep inside here tonight. a soft clang from the clock signaled that it had struck at midnight, and the tick coming after signaled the first second of a new day. She frowned at the sound. Another day gone by with not knowing where her mate was and if he was okay.

when it had gone fifteen minutes she finally decided to at least try to sleep. laying herself under the covers and snuggling into the pillow. he had been gone for a month, but his sent was still on some of the pillows, even if it was week. Hugging the one of the pillow close to her and wishing it was Nightmare instead she held as she closed her eyes. That night was dreamless, and it went away in the blink of an eye. She had no ideas when he had fallen asleep, but one thing she did no was that the pillow sent was stronger then before. Her grip tighten around it as she tried her best to snuggle even closer to it. Wanting to fall asleep again so the day could go by faster

A deep chuckle caught here of guard and made here eyes shoot open. She just then noticed the hand slowly running through here hair. Ghosting through it with the mildest of care. She was no longer hugging the wine colored pillow as here eyes opened to look at a black tar soaked hoodie. Here eyes quickly glanced up to meet a half lit cyan eye. "Ni...Night... Nightmare?" She breath out, feeling tears gathering in the corner of her eyes. The skeleton in front of here's smile widened as he nodded down at the girl in his arms. His hand still a bit tangled up in her hair."Nightmare!" Her hands let go around him and locked instead around his neck. Her head nesting right under his chin as she hugged him as close as she could.

Nightmare cheeks were getting warmer, but it didn't bother Him. He was just glad to have his mate in his arms again. He kissed the top of her head as his arm drew here closer. "Hey there moonlight. Who you doing?" His voice was low and raspy. Like he had swallowed sand. "Better now" The girl muttered, still not wanting to let go. Nightmare wanted to chuckle again but his attention was caught elsewhere. on his bedside table a vase with a single black rose stood in. It had wilted away long ago. Its petals laying around it. He knew exactly where she got it and who she got it from.

"...He won't bother you anymore", Nightmare broke the comforting silence the two had. She looked up from where she was laying. Moving here head to rest on his chest. "Did... Did you?" her mouth feels dry as she found herself asking her question. "I didn't kill him..." Nightmare answered before the question was fully formed. Knowing already where it was headed. She gave a weak nod. "No, I did not. I only gave him a... Reminder I guess you can call it:" Her brows furrowed. "Nightmare..." She lightly used a scolding tone. "what? it was what I did. no need to worry. Dreams alright.... probably only a few broken bones." He spoke the last bit a tad low, but it was still easy to hear. His grin only widened at the disappointing look she gave him.

Nightmare chuckled when she didn't change her expression. "Don't give me that look. You know you love me" His expression looked so much like love struck idiot that she couldn't help but break her glare and let out a little giggle. "I know, I know. I love you. Guess I can't stay mad at you too long." She leaned forward and pressed her lips to his teeth. His head came lightly forward and his hand left her back to slowly run down the side of her face. bringing here closer when he reached her lower chin.

"Don't leave me again" Nightmare pleaded in a breath after the kiss was broken. his eye meeting hers. "I wont. Promise. Just as long as you do the same" a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. "Promise" he whispered before leaning down for another kiss.

Hope you all liked my story and I'm amazed by all the love this one was getting. I don't have more things I want to happen in this story, so this will be the end. maybe for now, who knows? I hope you all enjoyed the story and ending.

I hope I can keep my schedule free and focus more on my other two ongoing fanfic without overloading myself because I decided three fanfic is fine. But I have some ideas for other undertale related fanfic and I have gotten myself into Stardew valley and want to write something about that to...
