Frozen Wings

Chapter 27

Hawks' POV

I threw on a black t-shirt and some gray shorts after my shower. I shook my hair out, not bothering to dry it with a towel. Carefully, I set my earrings on my dresser, where I had left my watch and headphones so I could go swimming.

Hm... we don't have anything to do for the evening, since Storms insisted she cook dinner and beat everyone to it before we could help, so maybe... yes. I'll try that!

I smirked, heading towards the living room. The entire house had a lot of windows, so the sunset was illuminating the room brightly with an orange glow. I took a seat on the floor, waiting for Storms to show up. She was showering too. I sighed, fidgeting with the hem of my shorts.

Finally, after what seemed like hours but was only a couple minutes, Storms came into the living room.

"Takami what're you doing sitting on the floor?" She chuckled.

"It's too hot to sit on the couches. I showered with the water on cold but it didn't help." I set my plan in place.

"Have you drank enough water today?" She asked, coming around to where I was.

"Yeah, that was the first thing I tried." I said.

"Hm..." Storms reached out, setting the back of her hand on my forehead. My heart jumped at the contact.

"Well, you don't have a fever. Maybe you got sunburnt." She frowned.

"Probably." I shrugged, wincing at the motion.

Okay that time it actually did hurt...

"C-Can you check my back? I can't see past my wings." I asked.

"Yeah, shirt off." She nodded. I took the t-shirt off. She walked behind me, quiet for a moment.

"Shit, did you put on sunblock?" She asked. I shook my head.

"Takami I think you have sun poisoning! Your back is as red as your wings!" She began to fuss over me

Oh god this isn't what I meant to do!!!

My plan started to backfire on me. I had to figure out a way to fix it.

"Do you know if your ice would help reduce the burning?" I questioned.

"My ice, not on its own. I'd need to mix it with aloe Vera and I don't have any with me. I mean, I can try something else, but..." Storms walked back around so she was in front of me.

Suddenly, Dabi came grumbling in.

Damn you ruining my plans!!!

I mentally cursed him.

"I burnt my back!" He groaned. Storms face-palmed.

"Alright, come sit down." She sighed. He did as told, sitting a bit away from me. He wasn't even wearing a shirt. Storms checked his back.

"Yep, you've got sun poisoning too. Alright, you two. I'm only gonna do this once so if you burn yourselves again, you're on your own." She sat down behind us. I jumped a little at the sudden cold I felt on my spine. Storms pressed her hand against my back, emitting a soothing coolness. She did the same with Dabi.

How the hell does he even burn himself?! He's got a damn fire Quirk!

I glared at him. He glared back at me.

"Um... Storms, what're you doing?" Aizawa looked at us.

"Idiots burnt their backs to the point they got sun poisoning." She growled.

He chuffed, walking off again. That left the three of us alone for a while. By the time Storms stood up, the sun had long gone down.

"Alright. I'm tired from that, so I gotta call it a night. You can wake me up ONLY if you're in absolute agony, got it?" She glared at us. I nodded. Storms grumbled, unsheathing the claws in her fingers before slamming the door to her room shut.

"Why do you have to ruin everything?" I asked Dabi.

"Me? I'm not the only one who burnt myself!" He retorted.

"Yeah, well, couldn't you have burnt your back another day?!" I snapped.

"I wasn't planning on getting sunburnt in the first place." He crossed his arms.

"Sure you weren't." I scoffed.

"You know what, I'm done with this! I have tried to hard to be nice and follow all the rules since you two saved me! But in all honesty, I'm starting to wish you had just let me die! All you've done is treat me like a piece of shit because you're jealous! I know I killed people, I know I don't deserve it, but damnit, could you just be nice?!" Dabi clenched his hands into fists.

"If you were anyone else, maybe. But I won't forgive the fact that you took my students and tried to kill them. That destroyed any chance of you making friends with us here." I growled.

"You know what, I did, didn't I? And I'm still a threat to everyone here. So how about I just do you all a favor and go kill myself." He spat, whipping around, heading towards the front door. He slammed it shut behind himself.

I stared at the door, shaking in fury. I wasn't sure what I was mad at, and that only made it worse.

I stalked towards my room, cursing repeatedly at nothing, burying myself under my covers. I screamed into my pillow, frustrated with everything.

Why?! Why is this so complicated?! I can't stand it! It's just not that easy to change from the top villain to a good guy! If it was, I wouldn't be so upset. I hate him because I saw what happened to Storms when she came back from rescuing the boys. She was horrified. She was blaming herself. She was destroyed when she found out the students thought they cared more about the other two than themselves. I hated seeing her like that. It reminded me of myself when I was little. I felt horrible seeing Storms that broken. That was the entire reason I took a job as a hero in the first place. So I could protect people from ending up like that. And look what happened because I screwed up. What a surprise. That's all I've ever done. You know, Dabi had a good idea. Maybe I should kill myself too. That way, I can't hurt anyone else again. Then he can have Storms. She doesn't deserve someone like me. She deserves better. I know deep down that Dabi really wants to change. She deserves him. Not me. But if Dabi's going to kill himself, who's going to be with her- HE'S GOING TO KILL HIMSELF!

I threw the covers off of myself, falling out of bed in the process. I scrambled to my feet, running to Storms' room. Without knocking, I entered, rushing over to her sleeping form.

"STORMS! WAKE UP!" I shook her urgently. She snarled, grabbing my arm, digging her claws in. I winced.

"Oh. Takami. What's going on?" She blinked, waking up.

"Dabi! He's going to kill himself!"

"WHAT?!"
