I finished Vampire Knight!!
Damn, the fandom was right. The ending is... unsatisfying 😂😂😂
So yeah, I'll confirm my opinions now:
VK S1: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
First half of VK S2: Not as good as the first season, but still great and really intriguing!
Second half of VK S2: ........okay, as much as I love VK overall, this part wasn't great.
After Yuki was confirmed to be a Pure Blood as well as Kaname's sister, that's when things sorta went downhill for me.
Like most of the fandom, I was uncomfortable with the fact that Yuki and Kaname were to be married, even though they're related... like...
I never liked the Yuki x Kaname ship to begin with because 1, I don't like Kaname, 2, Kaname was much too forceful to be Yuki's type, and 3, Yuki and Zero's love for each other was just WAYYYY too obvious.
But I did some research, and even if the show claims that Yuki and Kaname are siblings, their true backstory actually shows that they're not siblings at all, but Kaname is still her ancestor.
Didn't really help though... they're still related...
However, I went even deeper into research and discovered that incest is actually normal among Pure Bloods to keep the blood pure. So basically, if Yuki didn't marry one of her relatives, she would bring dishonor to her family.
So if Yuki didn't marry her relative, the rest of her family would be like:
But then again... literally everyone in the show besides Kaname thought incest was weird, even Zero and Yuki. Like...
Yuki: "This is my... elder brother!"
Zero:
Literally everyone:
Yuki (and I quote): "I just... I can't believe I fell in love with my brother!" *visibly disgusted*
I still think incest is weird, however, it didn't completely ruin the show for me. Like... TheStarWarsFangirl77 , wasn't there incest in Game of Thrones? That doesn't make the series bad, right?
The incest part didn't bother me as much as the fact that Yuki chose her damn bother over Zero. But now this leads me to my theory!!
Yuki was obviously terrified with the fact that she's a Pure Blood, so maybe her lovey-dovey feelings that she had for Kaname before finding out they were related had left.
Yuki had lived for so long as a human that maybe she thought incest was weird too. And she seemed much more worried about Zero and wanted to get away from Kaname.
But perhaps Yuki was afraid. Maybe she truly loves Zero, but feels like she can't be with him because 1, she's a Pure Blood, the very thing that Zero hates most, and 2, she would dishonor her family if she didn't marry her brother.
She felt forced to marry somebody she didn't love. I already read in the manga that Yuki marries Zero, so maybe at some point she faces her fears and dishonors her family for the one she really loves.
So all in all, my theory is that Yuki doesn't love Kaname like that, and doesn't want to marry him, but she feels like she's being forced to abandon Zero and be with Kaname for good.
Anyway, back to the show itself:
My score for S1: easily a 10/10.
My score for S2 (first half): 8.5/10
My score for S2 (second half): 5.5/10
But just because I didn't really like the second half of S2 as much as the rest of the series DOES NOT MEAN I HATE THE SHOW!! I still LOVE the show, overall it's amazing!
Would I recommend? If you like drama, angst, plot twists, attractive vampires, and vampire stories that are better than Twilight, then yes, absolutely!
However, if you get bothered by small things like indecisive girls and slight incest that technically doesn't happen (cause Yuki and Kaname do not end up getting married. Yuki married Zero), then don't.
Aight that's it y'all!
And remember, Zeki is love, Zeki is life.
I literally just found out that Zeki was the ship name for Zero and Yuki. I love it 😂
I'll do more reviews once I read the VK manga!!
Peace out y'all ✌️
