THIRD PERSON'S POVA man entered a café wearing a pair of white sneakers, minimal overfit black coat with a white turtle neck inside and black banding slacks. Suddenly, all eyes were on him. He sat on a table for two and looked through the glass. It was obvious that he was waiting for someone since he didn't order yet. Two girls were whispering to each other, "He looks so handsome"
"I wonder what his name is?" the girl said three tables away from him. "I think he is a university student. Maybe he is from A6 university since malapit lang iyon dito," another one said. The man looked at his watch again and again. It was obvious that he was getting impatient.
One of the girls gathered all of her courage and approached the handsome lad. The man noticed the girl walking towards him. "Uhm, hi! I'm Sasha," she said and waved. The guy smiled and nodded slightly to acknowledge her greeting, "Hello," he replied. She was so happy that he responded and decided to ask what she came for. "I was wondering what your name is and can I have your number?" she asked.
The man warmly smiled, "I am sorry but I can't give you my number. My girlfriend will not like it. I appreciate your cour-" he was cut off because the girl suddenly sat on the seat in front of him. "Is she the one you are waiting for because I-I think she stood you up," she said. The guy was about to reply when his phone rang. He wasn't able to look at who was calling but he guessed it was from the person he was waiting for. A smile was given to the girl before he excused himself out and held the phone to his ear before the girl could even interrupt.
He went outside the café, placed the phone near his mouth and blurted, "Hey Drake, where are you. You asked me to be here. You know I had classes today right? Why aren't you ans-oh shi-"
LEON'S POV
What the heck! I thought it was Drake. I almost dropped the phone when I realized it was Xyra. I am so busted and I don't expect that she won't have any clue about it. Where the heck Drake! I went back inside the café and saw Drake on a table dear the counter. I hurriedly walked towards him, "I am so dead! I thought you were the one who called me and I already blurted out a couple things when I realized it was Xyra," I explained and sat down.
He chuckled, "Get ready, she might already be suspicious of you. Oh! I'm sorry I was late, I needed to go to the university for a meeting and unfortunately, I can't stay long because the 3rd challenge was supposed to happen today but it would be move tomorrow due to change in instructions that is why I need to be there for the announcement," he explained. I sighed, "I will just deal with it later. To be honest, I really didn't want to be secretive and hide matters from them," I said. I looked at my phone, "So what is it that you want to talk about?" I asked.
Drake had serious look on his face, "Leo, I know you don't want to hide anything from them but you can't let her know the truth yet. You do know what happened right?" he stated. I slightly nodded, "Man, you don't know how guilty it made me feel to lie about my identity to them," I said and tapped my fingers on the table. "Well, it is for her sake," he said. "Is it really for her sake? You weren't here for a long time to actually know her. Sometimes, I feel we are just scums," I responded.
Drake didn't say anything because he knows what I meant. We were silent for a moment before we decided to continue our conversation. We ordered drinks before we sat down once again. "What did Mr. Rain say?" I asked. "He said that the fourth generation is ready. You also told him that she is already ready so he decided to make it official after a couple of months," he stated.
I clenched my hand, "I said she looks ready for it but I didn't mean that she will accept it," I said. He just shrugged, "I know, but Mr. Rain seems to be in a hurry because someone is around the corner waiting for the Ashwell to lose an heir," he replied. We talked for a couple of minutes before we said our goodbyes. I took my phone from the table and put it inside my pocket. I suddenly felt so nervous to face her.
XYRA'S POV
We are on our way to the auditorium for the announcement of the 3rd challenge. I was about to enter when Loretta blocked my way. Ano ba problema niya? I sighed and went to the other direction but she moved as well. "Ano ba meron?" I asked her. She narrowed her eyes on me and crossed her arms. "You know, you should just back out. Even though you passed the previous challenges, I bet you won't pass the rest of them so why don't you just save some of your time and back off?" she said.
I rolled my eyes and decided to ignore her. "Hey, I am still talking to you," she protested and blocked my way again. A couple of students decided to watch. "Look, I am not in the mood to satisfy your ego. I am not going to back off and honestly, I haven't interacted with you for a long time yet but I am so sick of your threats already. For someone who is smart, you act too much like a typical high school brat. We had a deal, and if you are just here right now to make me withdraw then you are barking on the wrong tree," I said and immediately entered the auditorium.
Sometimes you don't have to argue and bite the bait like I did last time when I was so mad at her behavior. I really wish I didn't let my emotions controlled me last time and join the competition. Well, it is too late and I guess this is one way to create an opportunity to change the board's minds. I sat on the third row, fourth seat from the right. I saw Loretta looking at me antagonistically and sat down at the second row.
I decided to look around to see if Yale and Lovely are in the crowd. Nasaan na kaya sila? I suddenly received a text. "You seem to be in a bad mood," it said. Napakunot ako ng noo dahil hindi ko alam kung sino ang nag send sa akin ng message dahil unknown number lang. "Who are you?" I replied. "You'll see," the sender said.
