I eagerly put on a denim jacket and black sneakers, then headed downstairs. I was immediately struck by the sight of Kai wearing a grey beanie and black leather jacket.

I tried to not notice how good he looked, he's still keeping me against my will after all.

"Ready?", he flashed a cheeky smile.

I simply nodded.

Since it was now dark, the street lamps lit up the entire town. It made everything look a light orange, taking my mind back to memories of Autumn when I would take my little brother out to play with piles of leaves. I know, exciting right?

Well, that's the simple life of a family from Oregon. On the other hand, I liked it. Simplicity over materialism was the way I liked to keep it.

I followed his direction side by side to him, eventually breaking the silence.

"Where are we going?", I appeared to have interrupted his thoughts.

"A waterfall bridge. There's plenty of lights around the area, the town's council was inspired by its tourists to do it all up, it's a popular spot to go, or was".

"So you grew up here?", I questioned.

"No, I'm from Portland. But I had friends here I'd visit every summer ", he put his hands in his pockets as we continued to walk.

"Weird", my forehead wrinkled thoughtfully.

"What's weird?"

"I live in spree, just twenty minutes from Portland"

Kai's expression changed to worried.

"Kai, its obvious you know something about me, so will you just tell me already?"

"I'm 80% sure I know you. But I could be wrong ", he replied.

I stopped walking, causing him to turn around. "You...know me?"

"Well, before I was sent here I remember my parent's friends having a baby, and they named her Lyla. They were witches so, I put two and two together", he continued to walk.

I followed, and heard the sound of water pouring. When I saw the waterfall and bridge in front of it surrounded by lights,I almost forgot about what we were talking about for a second.

"Kai, wait up!-", I caught up with him on the bridge. -" Why didn't you just say that when I asked you before?"

He gazed at the water flowing smoothly. "I dont know. Maybe I didn't want you knowing the truth", he replied, still looking at the water.

I walked in front of his view, blocking out the waterfall. "I want to know everything you know about my parents. Do you know why they sent me here?"

"Lyla, you cant go back home. If you do, they'll literally kill you", he said in a serious tone.

I stared at him In disbelief. "You're  lying"

"Why would I lie about that? You asked for the truth, so there it is. I'm sorry". He leaned back on the bridge.

"You're only saying that so I wont leave, then you'll be lonely again", I shook my head in denial.

"You seriously dont believe me? How about this, you're from the Virgo coven, your parents are Marie and Phillip, you live in a two story house in the countryside and the reason you were born was so they could suck up all your precious magic.  But now that it's gone you're of no use to them".

..what?

My reaction made him immediately regret the way he told me this. I could see it written on his exterior. My eyes unintentionally became watery. My mouth was dry. Did he just say what I thought he did?
