Kai's Pov

Once Stefan granted us the signal of the hybrid's arrival, Damon and I ventured into the wine cellar.

The Salvatore house was bigger than I had remembered from the late eighties. Not to sound too big for my boots, but I wasn't actually nervous about the siphoning part of the plan. I felt strong enough to take the task of sucking the wolf side out of the immortal.

The whole casting a pair of memory loss spells thing - that is what I'm nervous about. I hadn't had the chance to pull stefan aside before the night began. The stubborn brother would have been a great help if he kept Damon off my back while I worked on not killing the hybrid.

Nevertheless, I'll just have to take matters into my own hands.

"He's here. I can hear his knock off brand of shoes strolling around my living room ", the raven haired vampire  squinted his irises to concentrate on the conversation upstairs.

I patiently await for further information on the conversation taking place upstairs, all the while thinking about how Lyla's getting on with the other original.

I'm not exactly keen on their unusual friendship, for my own paranoid reasoning. I don't trust vampires. Keeping in mind I only recently discovered they existed, I still don't appreciate the false friendship I briefly had all those years ago with a certain Salvatore.

A part of me used to thrive in forming relationships and being around people I titled as friends. Knowing now that I spent most of my teenage years being buddies with the ultimate liar really ticked me off. So it's only natural to feel protective over Lyla's choice of friends. I don't want her to expose herself to faux bloodsuckers claiming to care about her.

"What are they saying?", I ask the Salvatore, nonchalantly crossing my arms over my chest as I hover on the staircase.

Damon furrowed his eyebrows, then gradually turned his head to my direction. "I think klaus is on to him. His tone of voice sounds just as sarcastic as yours does".

Fuck. Don't blow your cover stefan.

"I swear if your brother screws this up I'll-"

"Shh. They've stopped talking-", Damon expresses the ultimate look of concern as he rubs a hand over his exterior. -" Something's wrong Kai. I have to check on stefan".

"I just had to choose you guys to help with the plan didn't I? Well more the fool me", I wave my arms over my head out of frustration. This better not be my downfall. I've come too far to let a chance like this slip from my hands.

"I hate to burst your bubble parker but the world doesn't revolve around you. Are you coming or not?"

Without wasting any more time engaging with the verbose immortal, I hurried my way up the steps, with the raven haired vampire following suit. I braced myself to come face to face with the infamous original, however, the living room is completely unoccupied.

"You've got to be joking me. Where are they Salvatore?"

"Oh, gee, I must've forgotten to plant a tracking device on my brother", Damon replies with aggravated sarcasm.

If that moron puts Lyla in any kind of danger I'll fucking kill him myself.

Vampire or not.

Just as I'm thinking of another possible way to end the dark blonde's life, in comes Stefan with his irritating furrowed brows.

"Before you jump to conclusions Kai, I didn't blow my cover. But there's another kind of problem", he places his hands in the pockets of his tight jeans. The coward didn't even have the balls to look me in the eye. He kept his diverted gaze between his brother and briefly with me.
