Kai's pov

Staring at the four walls in my bedroom, I decieded to haul myself out of the dangerously comfortable bed.

It had been a week since I transported myself from the Virgo warehouse, to our apartment in Mystic falls. To be blunt, It proved to be the worst descision I've ever made. Depression gradually became my daily routine. I didn't care to leave my bedroom, nor the apartment complex. It was killing me. Not being able to see her, hold her, or even talk to her.

What have I done?

What the fuck have I done?

I longed to see her immaculate face, to have her in my arms again - anything. Even if its just to hear her voice. Who was I to make the choice of leaving her side? Without talking to her first, or allowing her to make the choice? Then again, that was the purpose. Deep down I knew she would try to argue her point, possibly changing my mind in the process. I had to remind myself it was for her. Being together proved time and time again that I was a threat to her very existence. I had to keep her safe, even if it meant being apart. I can't be selfish here, her priorities came first, not mine.

Amid my self torturous mind, there was a loud knock on the front door. I quickly put aside my cup of coffee, strolling toward the source of the noise.

"Oh, its you. Need something?", I bluntly questioned the dark blonde salvatore.

"um, no offence Kai, but you look awful. Whats going on with you lately? You haven't been returning my calls since you got back", his infamous brows furrowed as he studied my appearance.

Letting out a trapped sigh, I moved my stance to the side to allow him into the apartment. "I've been a bit preoccupied. Why the concern?".

"why the concern? Look kai, I know we got off to a wrong start when you first showed up, but I think its pretty clear that I view you as a close friend of mine. So yeah, of course Im concerned", Stefan stated profoundly as he followed me into the living room.

I slumped into the leather couch, lazily rubbing my irises with my hand. "Alright, alright, no need to get mushy with me. I'm just not in the mood for chatter today".

"Where's Lyla?"

Ugh, anything but that question.

"She's with her coven. We should go hiking or something today", I attempted to change the subject under his nose in an unsubtle manner.

But of course Stefan, being the insufferable know-it-all that he is, saw through my bullshit.

"Kai, just tell me what you did. It's obvious something's up with you two, why else wouldn't she be here?", he gestured his hand around the living room before continuing. -"you know, maybe I could help?".

Frustration swallowed me whole, and in the split of a second I arose from the couch, throwing my cup of coffee across the room. The loud crash of the ceramic mug instantly brought me back to reality, and I could feel my chest panting profoundly. Stefan didn't have to say another word, he knew. From my sudden burst of emotions it was blatantly obvious I fucked up things with the blue eyed witch.

Pressing his infamous tight smile, the Salvatore brother gave me the spill it look. In which, much to my dismay, I told him everything. In conclusion to this,I was left with a black and white piece of advice.

"Push your pride to the side and go get her. I know for a fact she'll forgive you if you prove that you care for her. I happen to be very experienced in the women department ", the dark blonde vampire said in a self praising manner.
