Lyla's Pov

" this looks expensive grandma, I can't accept it", I hand over the stunning gold pendant.

"Nonsense, every witch receives a necklace on her twelfth birthday. Here, put it on". I brush aside the hair behind my neck as she fastens the chain. I couldn't believe that someone remembered my birthday. Ever since ben was born, I was forgotten about. Tears streamed down my freckled face, I gaze up to my grandmother who holds a pleased look on her wrinkled face.

"See, it becomes you Lyla. Now since you're old enough you must know the powers your gift possess. On your 16th birthday a piece of your magic will reveal itself to you, after that, whatever will be, will be", she rests back on the wooden chair.

"But what if it disappears one day grandma, my magic?"

"I doubt that dear, the chances would be one in a million. What would make you think it would disappear?", she asks.

"I had a dream before that I lost my magic, and I couldn't get it back, then mom and dad never spoke to me again", I feel my eyes becoming stingy for the second time. Grandma patted her knee, indicating for me to sit.

"Lyla, if that ever happens then you must make the decision to stay ordinary or to take back your magic, it won't be an easy decision either", she holds the pendant from my neck ,pondering a thought. - " if a virgo witch loses her magic, she must either consume the magic of her coven leader, or find an equally powerful source to consume. But enough worrying petal, that will never happen to you".

I awoke to the sound of rattling coming from the kitchen, kai was no where in sight as I peered around the living room. We both fell asleep on the couch last night, and if I'm honest, I loved every minute of it. I wasn't lying that night in Jazzo's bar, I did feel safest around him.

"What's all the racket?", I strolled into the kitchen to see Kai chopping up strawberries and bananas. There was something cooking on the pan behind him, what a delightful view to wake up to.

"Breakfast is nearly done, hope you're hungry", he winks.

As I take a seat in front of the grey marble counter, a whiff of chocolate strikes my sense of smell. "Oh my God, whatever it is you're cooking, it smells incredible ".

Kai chuckles softly as he shuffles around the stove, neatly placing the fruit on top of the breakfast he's preparing. "And voilà, my famous chocolate infused crepes with fruit on top for extra sweetness. Take that Ramsay ", he places the plate in front of my hungry daze. I could seriously get used to this.

"Wow, this looks great Kai. You know, I bet you'd make a decent chef ", I reply while stuffing my face. I hear him exaggerate a Pfft.

"I'd run circles around any kind of chef, I'd much prefer to open my own restaurant or something, business is where it's at in 2015 Lyla, dont you read the business columns online?", he sits beside me on the matching grey cushioned stool.

"I guess I could peg you for an entrepreneur type", I playfully dig my elbow into his side.

We continue laughing and Kai begins his routinely rambling about something I wasn't paying attention to, my mind is too focused on the vivid dream I had last night. My grandmother Florence passed away just before I turned fifteen, and she was the only relative I was ever close to. I trace back to the conversation we had on my twelfth birthday, if my magic ever evaporated out of the blue, my only options to get it back would be either consuming it from the coven leader or finding an equally powerful source..whatever that meant. Unfortunately, my grandmother wasn't around to answer my questions, so I couldn't ask for the much needed advice on what to do in my current situation. Unless..
