"Look what santa got me Lyla!", Ben jumped up and down as I entered the living room.

"Oh wow, its cool"- I study the box containing a brand new playstation inside. - "Just what you wanted", I tightly smile to myself, knowing too well that there wasn't a present under the tree for anyone else but him.

"I checked underneath the tree for your presents but there's nothing there"- Ben holds a look of confusion on his slightly tanned face. "How come?" he questioned.

"I..never asked for anything that's all"

"Yes you did remember? You asked for-"

"Merry Christmas buddy! Santa certainly spoiled you this year", my father shoves past my physique to cradle my brother into a hug. I expected nothing from my parents, but it still wouldn't stop the watery substance forming in my tear ducts.

"Why isn't the turkey in the oven yet?", my father directed his gaze in my direction coldly.  - "are you going to stand there all day staring into space? Get to the kitchen", he ordered with a look of disgust on his exterior.

Merry Christmas to me.

                             -

"Hey, wake up"- Kai's voice enhanced as I pulled out of my dream state. -" I think you were having a nightmare ", he studied my sleepy exterior with concern.

"Huh?", my voice embarrassely cracked

The brunette grinned, seemingly amused by my morning brain, or lack thereof. "I said you were having a bad dream, well, it looked like it I mean. You alright?"

I sat up from the cushioned couch, rubbing the tiredness from my irises. "Um, yeah, I'm fine. Did we fall asleep on the couch?", I gazed around the living room at the half eaten junk food and selection of various comedy movies.

"Yep. Best night's sleep I've had since the prison world", he shuffles into the kitchen and turns his newly purchased coffee machine on. - " nervous for today?", he calls out.

Oh, no. How is it Friday already?

"Not at all. I only have to keep an original busy all the while my boyfriend siphon's her brother to death. Nope, nothing to be nervous about", I'm sure I said that sentence ten times quicker than the average person. When kai doesn't respond I peer over the couch to see a proud smirk written on his face.

"Did you just say the B word?", he raises a brow as he slowly approaches the couch.

My face drops. I didn't realise I said boyfriend until now. "..yes?", I answer with a hesitant tone.

Kai chuckles under his breath, expressing a joyous look. "Music to my ears, blue eyes", he leans over the couch, playfully nibbling the side of my neck.

I uncontrollably giggled from his ticklish kissing and biting, but everything went silent when there was a knock on the door. Kai and I exchange a confused look, but I know on my part it was mostly worry.

"I hope blondie didn't decide to show up early, Lyla?", he asked with a look of concern.

"It can't be her, she said she would text before she left new Orleans", I reply while contemplating if she would arrive earlier than anticipated.

"Only one way to find out then ", he boldly states as he approached the front door. I stood by the hallway, hoping it was just a neighbour nosing around the new tenants.
