Lyla's Pov

Waking up to the early light of the morning, I pulled the polyester blanket over more of Kai's sleeping physique.

I gazed at his sallow skin, then at his slightly ajar mouth as he exhaled light snores. I could get used to this, waking up to his beautiful face every morning, basking in the reality that he's mine, and I'm his. I'm not that little virgo witch tucked away from the world, living in loneliness, ridiculed by her family.

I'm happy.

I'm fucking- happy.

As of last night, I'm also engaged. I still couldn't wrap my head around it. I'm sure my face said it all when he proposed to me beside the stream, under the moonlight. It's so very surreal to think that I'll be marrying a Gemini in the near future, let alone anyone.

To be honest, I never imagined myself getting married one day. The idea seemed foreign in my mind, the thought of falling in love and becoming betrothed to someone also seemed unrealistic, given the fact that I never had any friends or close relationships with a single human being. Yet, here I am- lying next to the man who changed my life for the better. In more ways than one. I felt overwhelmed with gratitude towards the brunette, I hoped he realized how much.

"Do you always stare at me when I'm sleeping or is it a new hobby?", a husky voice startled my thought consumed state.

"I- no, I wasn't staring exactly. I was just..admiring?". Real smooth Lyla.

The siphon broke into a widespread grin, pulling my anatomy closer to his with a tight grip. "I love you", he chuckled against my bare neck.

-" how do you think Wendy is gonna' react?", he asked with a serious tone.

"She'll probably start crying, out of happiness of course, then I'm guessing she'll want to have a serious discussion with you. You know, the stereotypical if you hurt her lecture. Its compulsory right?", I teased the worried looking brunette.

"As long as she doesn't zap me into oblivion with her new leader powers, I'm okay with that", he pressed his lips together tightly. -" so, you're sure you wanna head back to Mystic falls today? 'Cause I'd totally understand if you wanted to spend more time with your brother and -"

"No, it's okay, I mean I can visit whenever I want now that theres a transportation portal thanks to you, and vice versa if Ben wanted to come visit. I'm just ready to leave this town for good you know? I've spent too much of my life cooked up here", I send the siphon a half smile.

Kai suddenly cleared his throat, shifting his body into a sitting position as my head still rested on his shoulder. "I want you to know that I promise to make sure you're always happy, no matter what. You're apart of my life now Lyla, I'm always going to put you first, okay?".

I didn't respond to him with words. Instead, I climbed onto his lap and placed my lips on top of his, reeling I'm the scent of his faded musky cologne.

Following the smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling bacon, I found my aunt in her usual spot by the kitchen table.

I was overwhelmed with excitement, knowing in a few moments she would hear of our recent engagement. I valued my aunt's opinion, but I already knew she would be thrilled with the news. Considering the fact that she already treats Kai as one of her own, I'm sure her reaction will be nothing short of contentment. Gesturing for the siphon to follow suit, I approached the dark haired woman currently focused on her daily crossword puzzle.
