The street gradually became busier since being inside Rousseau's. I strangely felt like an outsider amongst the crowds that passed by. There must have been a festival of some sorts brewing, as I saw plenty of colourful banners and posters being displayed among the street lamps and store windows. While I waited for Kai's lengthy toilet break I decide to have a look at one of the posters on a street light behind me. 'Le carnivàl du Soleil', commencing June 1st to June 4th'. Huh, wonder what carnival of the sun means?
"Alright I'm beat. Being sucked out of the prison world can make a guy tired", Kai appears beside me, looking like he hasn't slept in a week even though he did plenty of it in the 1994 hotel yesterday.
"Its only one thirty. I still have to look around for another witch".
Kai smirks profoundly, "I may have gotten some information from the bar girl, but I'd suggest we discuss it somewhere more quiet. So, hotel check?", he suggests. The locals of New Orleans are gonna start assuming we're a couple with the amount of time we're about to spend in hotels. I don't trust him to be running around the real world alone, not with his temperamental state. Then of course theres still the siphon catchers to worry about, so, I guess staying together for now is the smart thing to do. I just hope he doesn't get any ideas.
"Fine, but the second we check in you're spilling the information you got. Wait, our stuff is still back in the hotel du Soleil-"
"Uh yeah,In 1994, did you really think they would be there right now in present day? I think Davina might've zapped your head when she was pulling us out", he goes to flick the side of my temple but I shove his hand away annoyingly.
"Then what are we supposed to do about clothes kai? And money? We should've thought this through before we left the church", I start to become anxious, and all these people around us isn't helping. Without saying a word he pulls out a credit card from his jacket. My eyes widen in disbelief.
"You didn't"
"Its not stolen, Our little harvest friend gave it to me while you were in trance land. Theres twenty grand on it, we can get whatever we need. I've heard phones are the new pagers, we should get one". Kai seemed very eager to get his new life on track, I felt conflicted with emotions. I know how joyful he must feel now that he's free from his prison world, but he's also stuck right now because of the situation we're in. He made it clear that he doesn't want me to be alone in figuring out what to do about my coven, which I'm thankful- I mean, if I was on my own I'd honestly have no idea where to start. All that's on my mind right now is finding out if I can get my magic back or if I'm really destined to be a siphoner.
I cross my eyebrows, "so a sixteen year old gave you a credit card with that amount of money on it, and you're not at all suspicious? ".
"Look I'll explain everything at the hotel, unless you'd rather let bourbon street know about our business?", he sarcastically replied. I roll my eyes and agree to go with him after I got some things in town. Surprisingly he agrees, giving me the credit card but warned me about spending my limit. Oh dont tempt me, but as if I'm gonna go on a full shopping spree. Being on the run and being shunned by your family in the same week doesn't exactly put you in the mood to 'shop til you drop', not that I was the kind of girl anyway. Kai told me what hotel he booked us in so the plan was to meet him there straight after. I went into a promising clothing outlet that sold everything from casual tops to night out garments. I put some tops and Jean's into my shopping basket, and pieces of undergarments. I stopped by a rail of outfits considered night out style. I obviously wont need any but I cant help myself at the thought of buying one of them. My eyes catch a gorgeous black strapless bodycon dress. While admiring the piece a blonde girl spoke up in front of me.
