Kai's Pov

It had been ten minutes since Lyla darted towards the ladies toilets when an unnerving feeling in the pit of my stomach began to grow.

She's probably still throwing up. Relax. I tried easing my worried thoughts but failed to the greatest degree. Something wasn't up, and my intuition was usually on point. Not wasting any further time, I aggressively shoved past people near the toilet entryway, ignoring yells and threatening glances.

I had to make sure she was okay.

"Lyla? You still in here?", I called out in a hopeful tone.

When I was met with deafening silence, I knew I fucked up. I shouldn't have let her out of my sight like that, I could have waited by the entrance for her to come out. But no. My dumbass had to wait by the tempting bar.

Just as I was making my way out of the empty ladies room, I bumped into an intoxicated woman in a bachelorette rig out.

"Hey there hot stuff, wanna follow me into the cubicles?", her slurry voice asked my caught off guard self.

I let out a frustrated sigh, still overwhelmed with worry about the blue eyed girl's whereabouts. "I'm good thanks, how about you down a glass of water instead?", I replied while quickly striding out of the room as fast as humanly possible.

The only other place I could of looking was the outside smoking area at the back of the building, so I picked up my pace and ran towards the exit doors, pushing them open with sheer force. My heart was pounding profoundly when I couldn't see any sight of her. Where the hell is she? I ran a hand through my hair, trying to think of somewhere else to look, when I suddenly spotted an all too familiar piece of jewelry.

Her necklace.

Laying on the damp cemented ground was Lyla's pendant. It appeared to be broken by the clasp, indicating that it was snapped on purpose. I felt staggeringly ill. Something wasn't right. She wouldn't have wondered off for no reason, and there's no way she would've pulled her pendant from her neck. I wanted to punch myself in the face for being so fucking oblivious. I took her to Portland of all places, meaning one thing.

They took her.

Anger infused rage consumed my anatomy. I felt my hands shake as I stared at the broken necklace. This was my fault. We were warned by Wendy to keep a low profile until the ceremony, but no, I somehow thought it was a good idea to bring her out partying in my shitty hometown.

I unconsciously pulled my phone from my pocket, and pressed on Stefan Salvatores number.

"Kai? Its four in the morning what do you want?"

"She's gone...I can't find her", my voice trembled over the phone.

"Who's gone?"

"Lyla. I think my dad took her, or at least a Gemini, I'm sure of it", I regained a steady voice while racing towards a taxi rank across the road.

"Where are you? I can come pick you up-"

"I'm in Portland, long story but I need all the back up I can get. I need you and Damon to meet me at a ranch in Spree, I'll text you the details. This is going to be a fucking war".

Lyla's Pov

Sunlight peered through the tethered blinds, causing my irises to involuntary open.

I felt weak, barely having the energy to lift my head. The longer I stayed still, the more memory I was slowly regaining. The last thing I remember was looking around the smoking area of the club, trying to find Kai - then someone grabbed me from behind.
