Lyla's Pov

Time seemed to drag ferociously as I sat against the wall underneath the window.

I couldn't tell if an hour had passed or half a day, it was mind numbing. I already attempted to break the door down, but each time I attempted it, I was magically thrown across the room by an invisible force, or Joshua to be more specific.

Trying to occupy myself with my thoughts, I was startled by the sound of the door being swung open. I diverted my eyes to the familiar figure by the doorway, a smug expression sat on his face.

"Its time, get up", Caleb demanded.

I hesitated for a brief moment, but I knew I couldn't afford to delay. Whatever their plan was, it was going to happen whether I want it to or not.

"Gonna kill me?", I asked in a flat tone, exhaustion creeping in as the time passed.

Caleb didn't look amused by my question, instead, he appeared agitated. " I said, get up. He's waiting for you outside", his jaw ticked vigorously in response.

I let out a trapped sigh, eventually getting up to a standing position. Caleb wasted no time in making his way out of the cabin, so I followed, feeling more anxious by the second. I didn't know what to expect. The other part of me grieved to see Kai's face again, even just for a minute. Just so I could say goodbye.

Before walking through the front door to enter outside, I glanced at the clock above the kitchen table. 12:17pm. I've been gone for hours, why haven't they found me yet? I pondered the thought carefully, when Joshua's voice suddenly spoke.

"Have a seat miss Tilbury", he stood by a picnic bench a few feet from my stance, arms crossed over his chest authoritatively.

I concentrated on taking in my surroundings as I sat on a bench not too far from the cabin. There was nothing but Woodlands in front of my view, however, I could pick up the sound of flowing water nearby, indicating that a lake or river was close by. Caleb sat next to the Gemini leader on the wooden bench, eyes solely fixated on me.

"What are you going to do to me?", I nervously chewed the inside of my cheek.

Joshua looked to be in deep thought before answering, his dark irises squinted in my direction. "Let's not jump the gun just yet. I'm sure you're wondering why we took y-"

"I know my family asked you to kill me, its beyond obvious. So I'd rather not sit here and play twenty questions. Get it over with", I cut his answer abruptly.

The Gemini raised his brows in surprise, attempting to hide a grin. "Clever girl, but it's not as black and white as that my dear. Now, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but, your mother passed away last night", he paused before continuing.

-"so you would've been elected coven leader today, of course your father didn't want that to happen so, here we are. As for killing you, well, there would be far too much evidence leading back to me. So, as per your question, no. I'm not going to kill you".

Did my hearing deceive me, or did he just say he's not going to kill me? Confusion spread across my exterior, and just as I was about to respond, he spoke again.

"I have much greater things in store for you, miss Tilbury. How does your very own solidarity confinement sound?", he smiled eerily.

I felt my heart drop at his words. "You won't get away with this. I have people looking for me as we speak, they'll kill you without a second thought".

Joshua grew intrigued, scanning his irises at my stance. "You don't seem upset over the news I just shared with you in regards to your late mother. Isn't that interesting", he squinted his eyes for a second time.
