After an hour of driving through back roads we finally came across a little town called orange river. It was getting dark now and both myself and Kai were starting to get tired.

"Is that a motel over there, to your right?"

"Think so, oh good theres a supermarket across the street, I'm unbelievably starving ", kai rubbed his bloodshot eyes.

I laughed quietly to myself, amused by his plea for food.

"What? Why are you laughing?"

"You said you were hungry about eighty times now"

"You've a weird sense of humour blue eyes ", kai parked outside the motel.

"Why do you keep calling me that?"

"I know it annoys you, and I like that nickname for you", he smirked.

I raised my eyebrows at the brunette, but didn't have the energy for a comeback. We stepped out of the car and approached the derelict building. It wasn't a five star hotel but it would do for tonight.

The empty motel reminded me of a horror movie, everything was silent, eerie, and at any moment a guy with a mask could jump out with an axe. Stop being ridiculous, I told myself. Besides, who would harm me with Kai around?

"Alright, pick the less suckish looking room and I'll venture to the store for food. Want anything specific?", he asked by the entrance door, waiting for the que to leave.

"Um, not really, surprise me?"

Kai smirked and nodded his head. I found myself oddly feeling anxious and sweaty. Too much time sat in a hot car perhaps? Or, maybe, just maybe - I felt nervous about spending the night with him.

I mean, it was obviously too dangerous to sleep in separate rooms, with witch killers on the loose, right? That's what I kept thinking, trying to convince my psyche of the latter.

The only decent looking room was at the end of the hall, overlooking the parking lot. There was just one double bed however, so, Someone's got to sleep on the floor.  I cleaned myself up in the bathroom, and found an un-used hairbrush which I was content about. While brushing the long black locks that were tangled, kai had entered the room, causing me to jump over how quiet he was. He laughed, and rumaged in the bag he brought back from the store.

"Heads up", he threw a packet of fruit pastels my way.

I caught it and looked suspiciously at the bag. "Please tell me theres proper food in there"

"Obviously. Those are dessert. I got pork pies, some yogurt, pork grinds, some apples and uh, oh yeah coke", he sat at the edge of the bed taking off his shoes.

"And?", I placed a hand on my hip.

Continuing to keep his head down, he smirked. "Yeah toothbrushes too, chill"

The two of us, mostly Kai, devoured the snacks. Afterwards he grabbed a pillow and lied down on the floor. I felt a little bad, so plucked up the courage and spoke.

"You know, you don't have to sleep on the floor, it's a big enough bed to um share", I felt my cheeks getting red.

The room was dark but a street lamp outside caused a slight dim of light in the motel room. Without saying anything he got up from the floor and sat inches away from my physique. He pulled the covers up and rolled over, facing my direction. I noticed my breathing change, quickening. I could smell his minty breath, hear him breathing.

"Lyla?"

My heart raced.

"Yeah?"

"Sorry for making your hell more, hellish. I shouldn't have locked you in the house. I think I panicked, being alone for so many years then suddenly a pretty human shows up, it can drive any guy insane", he laughed for a second at his last sentence.
