Debra hooked up her phone to the bluetooth of the van so she could call her best friend as she drove. She just HAD to talk to her.
"Hello?" Marci answered sleepily.
"Hey girlie, sorry I woke you." Debra said.
"No that's okay girlie, is everything alright?" She sat up in bed once she saw how late it was. Debra hardly called her late so she immediately got somewhat concerned.
"Oh girl!!! You would be so proud of me!!" Debra squealed in excitement to finally talk to her friend about everything.
"I would?" she giggled at her friends excitement.
Debra started from the top and filled Marci in on everything. They talked till she was almost back home.
"Girl, so all this in just the last three days! how exciting! I hope that this guy is what you have dreamed and waited on for so long. You deserve every happiness this world can offer." Marci was wide awake and so happy she had tears of happiness in her eyes.
"Marci?"
"Yes?"
"I'm scared." Debra said.
"I know girl. It's been fast, but it sounds real. Don't question a blessing that has come your way." Marci tried to calm her fears.
"I am trying not too but, you know it hasn't been easy for me and the kids. Now that it is just me, I want to take the risk. My heart is screaming yes. My head however is struggling to accept it." Debra said softly.
Marci could hear how scared her friend was just in that simple statement from her. "Hey, just take it a day at a time and let it grow. Just think that we will laugh at your fears years from now when your married and happy."
Debra laughed a little. "Listen to you being the positive one for a change." She joked with her friend.
"Hey what are friends for." Marci smiled. She knew that all would be good for her friend. "Oh and next time have him get a hotel room somewhere else so y'all won't get caught no more." She laughed loudly. "Well girlfriend, glad your okay and we need to get together soon. Luv ya."
"Luv ya too. Bye." Debra hung up. she felt lighter now that she had talked to her friend. She always helped with life. Her rock and glue through good and bad.
Marci smiled as she hung up. She had lots to tell Debra too, just not quite yet. Who knows what her story will unfold. She would have to tell Debra soon about her adventure. She was still reeling from the quickness of it all with the new man in her life.
Debra texted Aaron and let him know she was home. "Hey lover I made it back and headed home." she sent.
She returned her van and replaced her key. When she had walked in to the office there were a couple of the guys checking in to go to work.
"Hi guys, y'all have a safe night." she said as she stuck the key back in the lock box.
"I'm sure it wont be as nice as your night was, but thanks." Carlos said. He was one of the younger guys. She really hadn't talked to him much. But she could tell he was a character.
Debra turned around. "What?"
"I said our night won't be as nice as your night was." He repeated himself rather suggestively.
Debra tried to remain calm. "What are you trying to say, Mr Garcia?" She remembered his name from the other trips he had been her passenger. She tried looking at him with a confused look on her face.
"Nothing, Ms Debra, you have a good night." He frowned a little. Was the gossip wrong? She acted like she didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
