"Anything?" I asked as I walked up to Clarke who was watching the woods. There hasn't been any sign of grounders in the past two days, but that doesn't mean anyone had dropped their guard.

The girl shook her head. "It's been two days. Maybe the bomb at the bridge scared them off for good."

I raised an eyebrow at her. "You believe that?"

Clarke glanced at me before shaking her head slightly. "No. They're coming."

I pursed my lips and started walking toward camp, Clarke following me. "Bellamy told me that Jasper thinks he can cook up some more gunpowder if he gets some sulfur, and Raven says she can turn that into landmines. So, be careful where you step."

"Ha! Funny." Clarke chuckled.

"What I really need is 1,000 more of her tin can bombs I can roll into their village and blow those grounders to hell," Bellamy spoke from behind us. I spun around, giving him a look. "That's what they want to do to us."

"Can't believe we survived 100 years just so we could slaughter each other," Clarke muttered, a bit of disappointment in her voice. "There has to be another way."

"Anything from the Ark?" Bellamy asked after a few seconds of silence.

Clarke shook her head. "Radio silence."

"Finally ran out of air."

"Maybe my mom was lucky," Clarke said. "Being on the exodus ship. At least it was quick... No one's coming down to save us."

°°°

"Whoa, guys! Fire!" I heard someone shout from the other side of camp. I ran toward the shouting to see the meat house was on fire. Octavia and Murphy were coughing, knelt on the ground. Murphy mumbled something I didn't quite hear before running at a kid named Del, punching him. I immediately acted, running to them, trying to pry them apart; Bellamy did the same.

"Hey, hey. Hey!" Bellamy shouted. "Hey, stop. Save it for the grounders."

I let go of Murphy as he stormed away.

"Well, now what the hell are we gonna do?" Octavia shouted over the sound of the fire. "That was all the food."

°°°

I walked toward where the meat house was originally at, seeing Bellamy knelt and Clarke standing next to him.

"What the hell happened?" I questioned.

"Murphy says that Del kept feeding the fire, mostly because Octavia told him it was a bad idea."

"And we believe Murphy?" Clarke asked.

"I do. Yeah."

I licked my lips. "We have some wild onions and nuts in the drop ship. It's only enough to last us maybe one or two weeks. What's left here?"

"Nothing," Bellamy replied. "It all burned."

"Then we have to hunt," Clarke stated after a few seconds. "Anyone we can spare goes out."

I looked at her. "Are you insane? There's a whole grounder army out there."

"We can't defend ourselves if we're starving."

I only nodded, deciding not to argue. Bellamy let out a sigh before nodding as well.

°°°

"Each group takes someone with a gun," Bellamy stated as people walked into and out of the drop ship for weapons, "and they're for killing grounders, not food. We don't have the ammo. Use the spears for hunting. Get what you can; be back by nightfall. No one stays out after dark."
