CHAPTER 8: ANTIDOTE

__________✧・゚: *✧・゚:*___________

"Clarke, he's getting worse!" Shouts Raven anxiously as we await Clarke's return. I don't think Finn had much longer before the poison reaches his heart and inevitably kills him. Come on, Clarke. Hurry and find some kind of solution. Suddenly, the room gets quieter and the sound of the boy's breathing disappears. My head turns to the boy and I wait a few seconds, my breathing becoming more shallow the longer Finn's chest stayed still. I was about to start doing CPR when he started breathing again, causing me to let out a sigh of relief.

"I'm gonna see what's taking so long," I mumble to Raven when there is no reply from Clarke. Raven sends me a nod.

"I'm coming with."

I don't argue and begin climbing the ladder to the top level, my eyes immediately finding Bellamy. I see Clarke's blonde locks next to him, making me take a step in that direction, Raven close behind. "What the hell's taking so long? Finn stopped breathing."

"What?" Clarke exclaims and rushes to the ladder, but I stop her.

"He started again but next time he might not."

"He won't tell us anything," Clarke shakes her head.

I sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration. "Of course he won't; our people knocked him unconscious, kidnapped him, and now we're torturing him."

Raven clenches her jaw angrily. I can see it in her eyes, and her face which is now red with anger. "Wanna bet?"

She walks toward an electrical box on the drop ship wall, two wires sticking out of it. She rips them from the box angrilly and touches the bare ends together, sending sparks flying everywhere.

"What are you doing?" Bellamy furrows his brows.

"Showing him something new." The grounder starts freaking a little as the dark-haired girl turns to him with a frightening look in her eyes. And when Raven put the wires against his bare skin, the current makes his body contort as he groans in pain. I swallow hard as the lights flicker around us. Raven's torture lasts a good ten seconds before she pulls the wires away, causing the grounder's body to go limp with exhaustion Damn, I didn't think Raven had it in her to do something like that. "Which one is it? Come on! He's all I have."

"No more!" Octavia shouts suddenly making the lot of us turn in her direction. The girl pushes herself through the hatch, a horrified, yet angry look in her eyes.

"He's letting Finn die!"

Octavia pants softly as she snatches the poisoned knife, cutting into her arm. I gasp at the girl. "Octavia."

Bellamy tries to stop her when she begins walking toward the grounder, but the girl isn't having any of it and leans away from his touch. She crouches in front of the grounder, pointing to the vials on the floor, asking him which on it is. A thick silence fills the drop shop as we wait for him to answer. And, after a good thirty seconds, grounder moves his head to the far left, signaling to the vial on the end. Octavia grabs it and holds it up. "This one?"

When the grounder nods, Octavia turns and hands the vial to Clarke who then takes down to the first level with Finn. I watch carefully as Bellamy reaches out to grab Octavia, but she shoves him off her again. "Don't touch me."

I bite my lip and shake my head. As the girl passes me, I send her a soft smile, one she returns before leaving Bellamy and I alone in the room. I watch him closely as he runs a calloused hand along his face, clearly stressing out. Clearing my throat makes my presence known to him and he turns to me. "Maybe you should be a lot nicer to your sister. Because of her, Finn is going to live."

His jaw tightens but doesn't say anything. I just shake my head and turn to the ladder, leaving Bellamy alone with with grounder.

°°°

"Hey," I greet Clarke as I push the canvas aside, stepping into the drop ship. The blonde girl is sitting besides Finn's unconcious body. Her lips tug at the corner in greeting. I can't help but notices the tiredness in her eyes, eyes that match mine; we're all exhausted. From having to build a wall as protection from grounders to trying to save Finn, we haven't had a chance to catch our breath. "How's he doing?"

The young girl sighs and props her elbow on the table, her head resting in the palm of her hand. "So far so good. I'm just waiting for him to wake up."

I give her a nod. "You did go today, Clarke; helping Finn."

"I couldn't have done it without you and Raven."

I smile, looking at my hands as I fiddle my fingers. Help. Did I really help? all I really did was stand there and watch. I mean, it's not like I know anything medical related, that's all Clarke. And even with the radio. I don't know the first thing about engineering or mechanics. I was thrown into the skybox without even a chance to learn my place on the Ark. My face fell as I furrowed my eyebrows. "What do you think's going to happen now that we've contacted the Ark? When do you think they'll come to earth? Do you think they'll actually forgive our crimes?"

"I have no idea," Clarke replies honestly, her face somber.

I purse my lips before letting out a humorless laugh. "I have three kills under my belt, Clarke. Doesn't that automatically make me evil."

"Just because you's killed three people doesn't mean your evil, Aiden. Does it make me evil because I killed Atom? You we're just doing what you could to survive. And if it's any consultation, I've never thought you we're evil." A pause and my heart skips a beat in my chest at her words. She smiles at me before continuing. "Why don't you get some sleep? I'll wake you when he wakes up."

I nod, giving Clarke one last smile before turning on my heel and walking out of the drop ship. As I make my way toward my tent, I close my eyes and let out a long, slow breath. Though, my attempt to calm myself is cut short when a hand wraps around my bicep, stopping me. I turn with furrow brows, coming face to face with Bellamy. "What did you mean earlier?"

Narrowing my eyes in confusion, I ask, "You're going to have to elaborate, Bellamy."

"After Octavia and I stopped fighting. You told me off when the storm started."

My lips form a straight line as I recall the memory. I totally forgot I told him off. "I know what it's like to be called a mistake; my mother said to me, and I quote, 'you ruined my life the day you were born.' I was my mother's first child."

Bellamy seems a bit shock, considering he knows Murphy's my half-brother. "First?"

"Yeah...you don't know?" I ask, making him shake his head slowly.

"Clarke's my sister-- well, half-sister now that I know Murphy's my brother," I explain. "I was born five years before Clarke."

The boy just watches me silently, almost as if he's thinking too hard. His eyes meet mine as he finally speaks. "Then, that would make you--"

"22," I cut him off. "Almost 23. I was put in the skybox when I was 14. And for some reason, they didn't float me at 18."

"That's almost nine years."

I nod slowly, biting the inside of my cheek. "Yup. Nine long years. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to get some sleep."

I turn on my heel and began walking away when Bellamy blurts something that makes me stop in my tracks. "What did I do to make you hate me?"

I can't help but laugh a little, but thankfully Bellamy doesn't notice. Instead, I cover it by clearing my throat before speaking in a slow voice. "I don't hate you, Bellamy. You just-- you've made a few decisions I don't agree with. But besides that, I don't really care... You're a good guy, Bellamy. You just need to let others see it."

I give him a tight-lipped smile as I turn one last time and make my way to my tent.
