"Remember 8pm " Niki said while I'm holding my phone over my right ear
"Okay, I'll be there" I said looking at my wrist watch. It's 5pm and Jennie's on her way to one of her important event. Niki called me cause she reminded me about a person who can literally boost up my career. He's been respected as a photographer for a long time and instead of having a meeting with Niki.. Niki told me that she can give the slot to me for my big break. I'll basically present my portfolio to him over dinner and he'll basically help me to be one of the most well known photographer out there.
"Lisayah " Jennie calls out so I turn around and she's already prepared. I insisted on driving her to the event today cause I just wanted to make it up to her after what happened yesterday. I did forget to make time for her and it isn't good for our relationship.. i get so paranoid that I don't pay attention to the present
"Let's go" I said carrying Jennie's bag for her as we walk towards the elevator. I have 3 more hours anyway. The drive there is approximately 1 hour and the drive back home is also 1 hour so I atleast have another extra hour to stick around if something came up. We walk out of the building since Mr Kang parked the car infront of the building so we'll be ready to go.
"Jennie Kim, I can't be late for my appoinment later okay? So I won't stick around for too long" I said

"Okay... there will be some VIP later at the event so just stick for a bit and say hi to them. It'll be a good first impression" Jennie said making me nod as we walk towards the car.
For like our whole drive Jennie retouched her make up and we talk about random things on our way there while I'm checking the time as much as I can so I can keep track of it.
After a while we arrived at the event and there's already a lot of people around. It seems like they're just waiting for Jennie to start. Jennie pulled me towards a group of people who seems like the VIPs she's talking about. They greeted one another as Jennie introduced me to them.
I stood there for like half an hour talking to them. They are all pretty old so it's either they're talking slow or they're repeating their phrases over and over again.
"Jennie" I called out since she's standing a few meters away from me "I have to go in like half an hour" I said making her nod
"Just talk to them.. I'll be right back" she said walking towards another group of people to greet them.
"When I was your age, I met my wife too" the old man beside me said for like a hundred time now. He already said that earlier and he's saying it again so in order to be polite I just smile and nod my head to let him continue. I keep looking down at my wrist watch and I can't help but to feel nervous seeing how the time goes by faster till it's around 6:50pm so I basically need to leave in 10 minutes. I look around and I can't see Jennie around. I can't even just leave this grandpa here just to look for Jennie cause it'll seem rude. I pull my phone out when i was about to text Jennie but I heard her voice from behind me so I immediately pulled her towards me "I need to leave Jennie"
"Already?" She ask
" I have a very important appoinment" I said
"Okay but stick with them for a bit more okay?" She said so I turn back around and listen to the repetitive story again while looking at my watch. I'll just drive faster then
"Lisa.. Lisa right?" The old man asks me making me nod as the time strikes 7pm "can you get some more of these foods for me?" He said. I seriously want to run out already but that'll just embarass Jennie so I stood up and grab the old man's plate as I walk towards the table full of foods and grab a couple of servings. I was on my way back when i saw Jennie
"Jennie I will be so late.. I need to go okay? Give this to the old man I'm talking to" I said but Jennie grab my arm before I can even run out
"What's so important than this?" She ask me
"Jennie I have an appoinment with one of the world class photographer and it'll really give me a bigger opportunity for my career so I really need to go" I said
"But these people are more important Lisa" she said making me furrow my brows
"Jennie I have my own career which means the important thing for you doesn't benefit me" I said
"Go bring this back to the VIPs table before you leave so they won't feel disrespected " she said handing over the plate. I just walk towards the table and put down the plate as I can leave already anyway
"Lisa" the old man calls out again so I look at him not even asking what he needs "sit down, I have a proposal for Jennie's company "he said making me sigh. A lady from beside him gestures for me to sit down as well. I look at my wrist watch and it's already 7:15 there's no way I can drive fast enough to make it. I sit down next to them as they started talking about the business proposal while my mind's not even there. I can't hear a thing. I can't understand anything. My mind's just roaming around the opportunity that I missed.
"Please excuse me for a second,I'll just go to the rest room" I said standing up before I even bawl my eyes out there. I walk towards the restroom and lock myself up to just cry away from everyone's sight. I also called the photographer I'm supposed to meet while I'm at the rest room
"Sorry sir" I said trying not to sob in the middle of our conversation
"You see, if you're meeting someone to basically boost your career don't chill out too much. You're wasting my time Ms. Manoban and there's not a single photographer that has the guts to do that to me. You will never be successful if you will keep on doing that."
