The next day, Daisy's shifty behaviour had completely dissipated. This didn't reduce Emmeline's concern and she stuck to Daisy like glue.

"Come on," begged Fred. "Let's go set off a stink bomb in the library."

"Absolutely not!" Emmeline gasped.

"But sitting with these two is boring!" Fred cried, folding his arms in protest.

"Thanks a lot," scoffed Daisy. Her and Neville were currently studying a Herbology book together in the Great Hall. Emmeline and Fred had joined them.

"You're welcome. Well, I'm off to find George."

"You can't, him and Angelina are on a date."

"They've been an hour, that's enough."

"No it isn't. Fred stay."

"Why?"

"Because I'm sat here doing your homework for you, the least you could do is stay."

Fred settled back down on the Gryffindor bench. "Fine."

"Neville, is there anything in your book that can help me breathe under water?" Emmeline asked hopefully.

Neville shook his mop of brown hair. "Moody gave me a Herbology book a few days ago, I'll check that one out for you."

"Thanks, Neville."

"I already told you," groaned Fred. He was currently pulling some golden thread out of his tie. His eyes were crossing as he focused. "You need to look at some Charms. I'm sure there would be something there. Me and George were studying them for our pranks. Come on, we'll go to the library."

"I need to stay with Daisy," Emmeline declined.

Daisy sighed irritably. "I'm fine! Go to the library."

"We're hanging out," Emmeline insisted, causing Daisy to roll her eyes.

After a few minutes of discussion, the quartet had came to the conclusion that Fred would go to the library to find some books and Emmeline would remain with Daisy and Nevile. Stubbornly, Daisy had refused to also go to the library, meaning Fred had to venture through the library on his own. He agreed. After all, Emmeline was doing his homework for him. After Fred left, Daisy was glaring at her older sister. The blonde was absent mindedly nibbling the edge of her quill. She glanced up and shuddered at the sight of Daisy and Neville staring.

"What?"

"You and Fred."

"What about us?"

"Aha, so there is an us!"

Emmeline's cheeks tinged pink. "We're friends, you know that."

"It had puzzled me why you weren't upset by Vivienne and Cedric dating."

"I am upset! I just have other things to focus on."

"Like Fred."

Emmeline's scowl deepend. "Like the tournament."

"Please, you were practically begging him to stay with you."

"Because he would have disturbed George and Angelina's date." Emmeline's face was twitching.

"You have been my sister for fourteen years, you may be able to lie to yourself but you certainly can't lie to me."

Emmeline released a pressured laugh. "I'm not lying-"

"Me and Neville think there's something going on. Oh and Harry. And Hermione and Ron. You know, I think even Seamus mentioned something about how close you two have been lately..."

Now, Emmeline was a lurid shade of magenta. "Why have you all been discussing me? Do you not have anything better to talk about?!"

"You're a Triwizard champion and ex best friend of Veronica Siegel. You can't seriously expect your private life to stay private."

"Oh it's private alright, it's that private I don't even know about it!"

Daisy's look of scepticism made Emmeline's blood boil.

"I am not in love with Fred Weasley!"

"And why ever not?" It was Fred. He was back from the library and had a stack of books under his arm. Emmeline wanted the ground to swallow her up.

Her voice wavered and her eyes flashed. "Daisy and her little friends have got it into their heads that me and you...well...are a thing."

"And what type of thing would that be?" asked Fred innocently, swinging his legs over the bench. He sat closer to Emmeline than what was usual. How was he staying so calm?

"A relationship kind of thing."

Fred looked a concoxion of hurt and confusion. "Sugar plum, you mean to say you've sill not told them that we are engaged?"

"We're not engaged," Emmeline said loudly over Daisy and Neville's giggles.

"Sweetie pie? Of course we are!"

"Fred, stop it. You're embarrasing yourself."

"How can it be embarrasing when it's what I feel for you? We are also expecting our first child." Fred laced his fingers around Emmeline's and she instantly snatched her now sweaty palm away from his touch.

Emmeline closed her book and gathered up her parchement. Her stomach was bubbling with butterflies and adrenline was surging through her body. She had to leave. "I'm going to the toilet."

"Oh how I will miss you! Darling, you shall always remain in my heart! Parting is such sweet sorrow!"

Emmeline bustled away, mumbling bitterly to herself. Daisy couldn't help but realise that Fred was grinning ear to ear.

As Emmeline was washing her hands, she was staring at herself in the mirror. As if Daisy and her friends thought her and Fred were together! Yes, he did have feelings for her and she did want to kiss him that day when the mistletoe appeared. But nothing happened and that's how it would stay. He said no and it stung but it was for the best. Yes, he was cute and hilarious and even though he had an identical twin, he wasn't like anyone she had ever met. He made her laugh and smile and feel safe and that half smile he does when he sees her was undeniably sexy. Oh god, she really did like Fred Weasley!
