Due to their lack of curtains, the sunlight was bleeding into the girls' dorm room. When Angelina sat up and rubbed her eyes, she noticed Emmeline was already awake. She could see in her blue eyes that her mind was whirling, most likely plotting Veronica's demise. Angelina managed to convince Emmeline to attend breakfast with her. On the way, they bumped into Daisy and Neville. Daisy was concerned at why her older sister looked so dishevelled and Emmeline wasted no time angrily telling her about it.

Daisy looked unfazed. "You can just photocopy mine," she said, shrugging.

"Photocopy?" echoed Angelina.

"Muggle thing," replied Emmeline dismissively. "It's not the same as my photo and that's not the point. I liked the original."

"They're just things, things that can be replaced. You have your memories and magic and that's all you need."

Emmeline shook her head. Why wasn't her sister has mad as she was? Veronica had raided her private stuff and stolen her most prized posession. Most students could just return home at Christmas and snap another photo. Emmeline couldn't. Her parents were gone and 'things' were all she had left of them.

"Veronica isn't going to stop at this, it will only get worse," Emmeline cried.

"Yes, because you're letting it bother you. She's jealous," said Daisy as they entered the Great Hall and took their place at the Gryffindor table.

"Jealous?" spluttered Emmeline. "What could she possibly be jealous of me for?"

"Isn't it obvious? You're a champion. You were picked, she wasn't."

Emmeline was left dumb-founded. Yes, Veronica wasn't a champion and Emmeline's popularity had dramtically increased but Veronica was still 'top dog', always had been always will be. Emmeline's popularity didn't detract from Veronica's. Perhaps she didn't like that Emmeline was managing just fine without her friendship. Did she really feel threatened? By Emmeline? There was no way! Veronica was pretty and popular and had boys interested in her. Emmeline inhaled as she realised she also had all three of those qualities. On top of that, she was a champion and had a far more tolerable personality than Veronica. Maybe Veronica was threatened by her, and that's something Emmeline never thought would happen. The Walshaw girl was silent, practically invisible, at the beginning of the school year. She was a coward. She hated everything about herself. Now, she didn't physically recoiled when she saw her reflection in the mirror. Her fingers fumbled a loose strand that had blossomed from her crimson Gryffindor tie. She was brave and determined and reckless and adventurous. She was loved. She was beautiful. And she was desperately in love with herself.

Emmeline was so locked inside her trance that she didn't hear Angelina offer her a slice of toast. She didn't even snap out of it when the redheaded twins appeared. Emmeline got to her feet.

"Where are you going?" demanded Angelina.

"To speak to McGonagall," she replied quickly.

"Shouldn't we wait until after breakfast-" Angelina suggested.

Emmeline shook her head and made her way towards the teacher's table. She stopped just premature of her destination and grabbed a plate and a fork off the Ravenclaw table.

"What the hell is she doing?" Angelina gasped.

Emmeline attacked the plate with the fork, making as much noise as she could. Fred, George and Angelina sprinted towards her.

"I have an announcement!" she yelled as loud her throat would let her. Suddenly thousands of eyes were upon her. She exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding.
