Emmeline bumped into Fred on her way back from her encounter. Worried, he decided to go and look for her and was relieved when he found her. His face fell, however, when he saw her tear stained face.
Suspecting that she was upset about Cedric, he pulled her into a hug and nestled into her hair. Hand in hand, they returned to the Gryffindor common room. They sat down on a couch, the silence comforting. Due to her almost sleepless night, Emmeline had almost dozed off when George shook her awake."Vivienne is outside, she wants to speak with you. Shall I tell her you're busy?" George said. Emmeline groaned and picked herself up off the couch. Couldn't Vivienne leave her alone for a little while longer?
Fred shot up instantly. "What does she want?"
"Nothing," Emmeline replied quickly. She felt guilty for lying, she didn't want a relationship built on dishonesty. She was going to tell him eventually. Just not right now.
"It doesn't look like nothing," Fred countered, standing up too. Playfully, Emmeline pushed him back onto the couch.
"It is. She just wants to apologise," Emmeline said. More lies.
"Apologise? Since when did Vivienne Truro apologise?" scoffed Angelina, also matching Fred's suspicion. Not only was she lying to her boyfriend, she was now lying to her best friend. Not revealing the whole truth about something isn't exactly lying, right?
Emmeline shrugged. "Dumbledore might have put her up to it. She's probably scared she will get excluded like Veronica if she's not careful."
Fred volunteered to go with her incase it was a scam but she had managed to persuade him to stay. Reluctantly, he flopped back down as Emmeline left through the portrait hole.
She was greeted by a silhouette wrapped in a black cloak.
"Vivienne?" Emmeline guessed, approaching the figure with caution.
She ripped her cloak off her head. "Finally, you took your time!" she snapped, before remembering she was supposed to be being nice and rearranged her face into a smile.
"Erm...why did you have your cloak over your head?" Emmeline wondered.
Vivienne sighed as if Emmeline had asked a stupid question and for a moment, she was worried she had.
"I have been stood next to this window for ten minutes!""And?"
"The sun rays have been getting to me. Don't you know how harmful they can be to the skin?"
"Oh, yes, I guess that's sensible protecting your skin from cancer." Emmeline hadn't realised Vivienne was so safety conscious.
"Cancer? What? No I am worried about getting wrinkles."
Emmeline shook her head as though would spin her out of this situation. If she wasn't fearing that Vivienne was going to threaten her again, she would've found this situation very funny. "Why are you here? I haven't made a decision yet." Emmeline looked around to check no one was near by and lowered her voice.
"Draco told me to tell you that he really will kill you so I think you should just take the money just in case," Vivienne said, as though she was acting like a hero.
"There's a third option where I go and tell Dumbledore," Emmeline snapped.
Vivienne pouted as though she was about to throw a tantrum. She clearly wasn't used to not getting her own way. "Please Emily!" she begged, her violet eyes brimming with tears.
"Emily?"
"Sorry, Emma, your name is just really forgettable. It's not as dramatic and elegent as Vivienne is. Look, just accept the money. I'm doing you the favour here. This is an opportunity you wouldn't have had without me."
"You're a joke. You know that don't you?" Emmeline spat darkly.
"None of this is a joke, I could end up in prison!"
"Exactly! You only care about yourself!" She was shouting loud now. She didn't care if the whole castle could hear her; she had had enough.
Vivienne had pushed her over the edge. "You shouldn't have been getting revenge on Cedric anyway. He has a right to say no to Veronica. You chose to jinx him so now you have to face the consequences.""I didn't mean to kill him!" she cried.
Emmeline stormed off, Vivienne chasing after her.
"Where are you going?" Vivienne demanded desperately, her heart sinking when Emmeline turned the corner towards Dumbledore's office.
"Come on, Emma, let's talk about this!"Emmeline turned on her heel to view her. "My name is Emmeline! And I'm going to Dumbledore's office!" Before Emmeline could start charging off again, Vivienne grabbed her hair. She pulled tightly so she couldn't leave. She had to do something, she couldn't let her ruin her reputation. Emmeline released a screech as she struggled to fight her off. Vivienne was using her other hand to snake around her neck, pushing tighter and tighter. Emmeline was fighting for air, her face flushing red.
"You're making this worse for yourself," she managed to stutter out.
Vivienne smiled darkly. "I'm not. There's no one around. No one to hear you cry. I gave you the option, you knew the consequences."
Adrenaline surged through Emmeline's body as she kicked back, hoping to hit Vivienne. She was successful and wasted no time in sprinting away. Vivienne reacted quicker, brandishing her wand. She shot a spell at Emmeline causing her to topple over. She hit the ground with a crash. Vivienne towered over her. Emmeline tried to scramble away but she was unsuccessful, Vivienne had her hands tightly handcuffed around her wrists. Violently, she yanked her up and shoved her into a nearby cupboard. Judging by the stack of lurid labelled liquids and selection of dismembered critters stuffed into jars, this was Snape's potions cupboard. Vivienne held her wand against Emmeline, they were both now crying.
"You're going to get caught. You may as well go and hand yourself in. Less of a blow," Emmeline croked out.
"If I'm going to get done for one murder, why not two?" Vivienne spat, wiping away a tear.
"You don't know you'll get a murder charge, as you said it was an accident-" Emmeline's speech was cut by Vivienne increasing the pressure of the wand into her throat. Emmeline absolutely did not want to die in Snape's dingy Potions cupboard after being murdered by a teenage drama queen covered in hairspray and fake tan and false nails. There was absolutely no way this would be how she died.
