Angelina attacked the door with her fist. This was the second time she had knocked. The door eventually swung open, revealing a frustrated looking Snape.

"What seems to be the problem?" he drawled. Angelina asked to speak to McGonnagall but Snape said she was asleep. If she wanted to speak to a teacher, it would have to be him as he was the only one on duty. Angelina rolled her eyes at their luck. She explained the situation and Snape snatched the note out of her hand. Carefully, he inspected it. His black eyes narrowed until they were barely visible.

"You mean to tell me you have disturbed me...For this? A prank?" he spat, shoving it back into Angelina's hand.

Angelina sighed. "It's not a prank. This is very real and there is no punch line. Money and sentimental items have been stolen from us-"

"And our bedding! And the curtains!" Katie cried out.

"You can tell McGonnagall about this prank tommorow," he barked.

"It's not a prank, sir!" snapped Angelina.

"We do need our bedding before tommorow," Katie added.

Snape shot the group a frosty stare. "I bet it was you and the other one." He withdrew a pallid, skinny finger and pointed it at George. He shook his head fiercely.

"We think it was Veronica," Angelina began.

"Siegel?" Snape asked. The group nodded. "She wouldn't do such a thing."

"Are you joking?" Angelina laughed bitterly.

"Does it look like I'm joking?" hissed Snape, his eyes flashing with impatience.

"No, but you do have the same facial expression no matter the occasion so for all we know you might be-" George said.

"Less of the cheek, Weasley!" he yelled, loud enough to wake the whole castle.

"This photo is really important to Emmeline," Angelina continued, taking a much calmer approach.

"And we can sort it in the morning," Snape repeated.

"The bedding! Why is no one concerned about the bedding!" Katie wailed.

"Fine," sighed Snape. He instructed them to wait there whilst he grabbed his cloak. They set off for the Slytherin common room.

"Nice night gown," George said.

Snape's white skin turned slightly lilac as he tightened his cloak around his striped nightgown. "I wasn't expecting a nightly prowl around the castle!" They continued bickering until they approached the entrance.

"Wait here," Snape instructed through gritted teeth, as he disappeared into the common room.

"No way, I want to see what the Slytherin common room looks like!" George proclaimed, elbowing his way in. Luckily, Veronica, Vivienne, Velma and a few other people were gathered around the fire.

"What's going on here?" Snape asked, but it seemed like he was only faking an anger because the Gryffindors were observing.

"We were just catching up on some homework, sir! No rest for the hard working," grinned Veronica, subtly waving her wand and hiding the empty bottles of alcohol the friends were consuming.

"No rest for the wicked more like," Angelina grumbled.

Snape handed the girls the parchment. "What's this?"

"A piece of parchment," Veronica answered.

"Yes but what's on it?" continued Snape.

"Some writing." Veronica should have won an acting award for pretending to study the letter.

"And do you know who wrote it?" Snape asked.

Veronica shook her cherry coloured locks.

"Yeah, Vivienne wrote that-" Velma announced. Her stupidity worked in Angelina's favour. Snape chose to ignore her as Veronica elbowed her friend to shut her up.

Veronica and Vivienne let out a forced cackle. "Oh Velma! She's such a joker!" Veronica wiped away a fake tear. "No, sir, we haven't seen this."

Snape turned to survey the angered Gryffindors. "I'll go and get you some spare bedding and then you stop making such a fuss and return to bed."

"Wait so you're not even going to punish them?" Angelina gasped.

"They said they didn't do it. What more can I do?" he said coldly. Veronica was sticking her tongue out at them from behind Snape's back. How was Snape so blind to the bullying his students were doing? Why did Veronica get away with everything?

"They're obviously lying, Velma basically admitted it," George argued.

"I have a right to deduct points from you for being out of bed so late without a valid reason, but if you go to bed now I'll let you off. Follow me."

Angelina was left stunned as they followed Snape out the Slytherin common room. Veronica, Vivienne and Velma were howling with triumph. As they collected their spare bedding, Angelina decided to leave it for tonight. They were too tired and Snape clearly wasn't going to give the issue the attention it deserved. They would go to McGonnagall tommorow.

When they bustled in, Emmeline was immediately alert. Alicia needed a bit more encouragement to wake up. Eagerly, Emmeline pressed them to tell her what happened. She hoped they would be expelled, packing their bags right now and leaving Hogwarts forever. The best case sceanrio would be she also got her photo back. Angelina was reluctant to tell her the truth, she didn't want to add to the stress. Katie recounted the trip in full detail, clearly exhausted from the eventful night and craved closure. Her and Alicia bundled up their new, spare bedding and headed to bed. Emmeline, on the other hand, was enraged at Snape's response.

"I told you! You should have let me go to them myself. They slither their way out of everything," she shouted.

"I guess that's why they're in slither-rin house!" joked George, earning him a piercing glare from his girlfriend. Now was clearly not the time for puns.

"Don't worry, we're going to go to McGonagall tommorow. She will understand. There's nothing else we can do tonight so we may as well go to sleep," Angelina assured her friend. With an arm around Emmeline, Angelina lead her to bed. Fred and George copied. Fred had turned to wish Emmeline good night but he was greeted only by their dorm door shutting. They had already headed off to bed. He was wide awake, sprawled out on his bed. His mind was occupied with Emmeline. As he tossed and turned, he wondered if she couldn't stop thinking of him.
