It was the Sunday before your first day of school. You'd had a week to train on your own and with your parents when they got off of work to lengthen the time you could use others quirk for. You pushed yourself to the max and extended your quirk using time by another thirty seconds. A minute and a half. Not bad!

"Y/n, honey? We are out of milk for breakfast tomorrow! Can you go down to the shops for me?" Your mum called you from the kitchen. You slid on a pair of black pumps and walked towards the front door, purse in hand. You looked at yourself in the mirror before you left and noticed the scorch mark of your favourite coloured hoodie. You ran your finger across the sizzled edge, slightly annoyed by it.

"Be back in a minute!" You called"

"Take Otis with you! It's getting dark." Your dad replied. You rolled your eyes and tugged the lead off of the coat rack, you whistled through your teeth and the large dog ran towards you excitedly. You clipped the leash to his black collar before shutting the door behind you and wondering out into the dimly lit streets.

Sirens blared in the distance but other than that the streets where silent. The only thing you could hear was your footsteps and The husky's panting. You wondered down an alleyway, taking a shortcut to the shops humming quietly when Otis stopped in his tracks beside you. "What is it boy?" He lowered his head and started growling quietly. He'd never growled like that before. You followed his gaze to a silhouette stumbling down the alleyway in front of you. 'oh no.'

"Otis come on boy, we'll just go to the shops tomorrow morning before I head to school." But he stood still growling, tail between his legs, you tugged at his collar worriedly but he wouldn't budge.
The silhouette was getting closer and you noticed a sharp object in the mans hand as the smell of alcohol almost choked you for air.

"Hey girl! The hell you lookin' at? You judging me?" Otis continued to growl at the man, baring his teeth and shaking slightly at the end of his lead, this was bad. He was armed and without anyone around, you couldn't use a quirk against him.

"I don't want any trouble, please" you begged him, panic setting in.
The man came into full view, he was about a head taller than you with thin limbs and a crazed look on his sunken in face, his hair was knotted and greasy and his eyes where heavily bagged from the alcohol he'd drunk.
"Get the mutt to stop growling! You idiot girls shouldn't be wondering around making fun of people! Stop looking down on me like the rest of them!" He was crazy! He got too close to you for Otis' comfort. His collar snapped and he snarled as he jumped at the man. He cried out as the large dog gripped the arm that held the knife.

"OTIS NO!" The dog was shaken off and thrown into the wall he snarled and lunged again, the man crying out and slashing wildly at your best friend. He whimpered slightly as he was thrown back a second time. The man then turned to you jumping towards you with pure rage oozing from his movements.

You rolled up your sleeves quickly and grabbed the armed hand that was bloodied from Otis' bite. He was stronger than you and tried to push the knife towards you against your grip. You tried to focus on his energy but gasped when you realised that nothing came.
"You don't have a quirk!" This was bad, you where now completely defenceless now that you couldn't take any quirk. Having to rely on self defence tactics alone against an armed opponent.

"You quirked idiots are always looking down on us like you're superior! They won't be saying that when a quirkless runt puts a hero in her early grave!" His hand slipped through your grasp, you tried to dodge but the blade grazed your neck. You winced, gripped it tightly as blood began to trickle through your fingertips.

You sent a blow to his stomach but he lurched at you again, slicing through the skin of your forearms as you blocked. You sent another punch towards his face but he kicked you in the gut. Your head hit the pavement with an unhealthy crack and you looked over to see Otis struggling to stand. You cried out to him before the man climbed on top of you and raised the knife. He was then sent flying again as the Husky jumped onto him gripping onto his shoulder.

Otis released the man and began to limp away from the alley as quickly as possible. The man jumped at you again whilst you where still on the ground you reached up with your legs, placing your feet flat on his stomach and kicking him over you into the floor. Sirens where getting closer as you started to feel dizzy from blood loss and the brutal kick to your gut. Your head was throbbing as the man cursed and ran from the sirens.

You fell to the floor as policemen came running around the corner to see you heaving from exhaustion, the limping Husky ran in front of them towards you. Your world went black as red and blue flashing lights lit up the alley.

Third chapter slightly shorter than the first two but it was a good place to leave a cliff hanger 🤷‍♀️
