Chapter twenty four: equal at his side

Shadows rushed past you at high speeds, the sound of heavy breathing and hurried footsteps kept you awake as you fought for control over your broken limb. Midoriya chanted quietly to himself to keep going.

He was just as beat up as you were, probably more so. As a hero in training, you couldn't let your friend push through the pain whilst you weighed him down.

'Some of my energy had returned, I'd have to shift into something that's not too big, I don't want to use too much of the power I have at the moment. I don't know how far we'll be running so something with good stamina. I also need to be easily recognisable, I don't want to get attacked by a team plate by accident.' You racked your brains for the best possible shape to take.

Midoriya skidded to a stop when he felt he slight weight of your small body leave his shoulder. "L/n? What are you doing we need to find Kacchan." He spoke quietly to the small injured bird that stood in front of him.

You puffed out your chest and shifted into a form that resembled Otis. Your injured arm was lifted off of the ground. Midoriya nodded at you, with no energy left to argue about you helping.

You both started running again. Even when limping you managed to keep up with him. Kota clung to the back of the boy who ran next to you. Your ears twitched at hearing a third set of rushed footsteps. You both burst from the bushes into the path of Aizawa.

"Midoriya, l/n. You two need to get back to camp now!" He spoke sternly between breathless gasps.

"There's no time!" Midoriya shouted. "Here take Kota, we have to find kacchan. He's one of the reasons that the villains are here!" Kota lowered himself from Midoriya's back and made his way to you. He removed the large black cape from around his shoulders and tied it around your neck like a thick collar.

You both started running again before you where stopped by the rough voice of you teacher. "I know I can't stop you, so I have a message for Mandalay."

After he gave his instructions you parted ways, rushing towards the clearing you where in before the attack. Making your way out into the open you saw the pro rescue hero's Mandalay and Tiger fighting the two villains from before.

"Mandalay! We need you to use your telepathy! Tell everyone that the villains are after Kacchan! And Mr Aizawa has granted the students permission to fight the villains!" Midoriya yelled as he sent a kick at one of the villains.

You continued running, separating yourself from your teammate with no time to stop. 'I have to find him, quickly!'

A large tower of ice shot into the sky from somewhere ahead of you. 'Todoroki was partnered with Katsuki...he must be there!'

You burst free of the shrubs of the forest onto the woodland path. Katsuki stood next to Todoroki, they where defending against a villain wrapped in a black straight jacket, long jagged blades seemed to shoot from his mouth.

You let out a loud bark as you skidded past them, going so fast you slid straight into the bushes on the other side of the path. "Y/N?" You heard your favourite blond shout to you.

In the cover of the shadows and the forest shrubs you changed back into yourself and wrapped the cloak around your chest and let it hang down to your mid thigh. You rushed back out onto the path as Todoroki sent another sheet of ice to defend against the villains wild attack.

"What the hell are you doing here! And what are you wearing?" Katsuki screamed as you made your way to your two friends behind the cover of the half and half boys ice wall.

Just as you opened your mouth to speak, Mandalay's telepathy quirk kicked in.

"Everyone! The villains are after a student called Kacchan! Kacchan, please make your way back to camp immediately! Everyone else, Mr Aizawa has given permission for you to use your quirks to fight back!"
