Chapter twenty: planning ahead

"I'm going shopping with my class for summer trip supplies so be good while I'm gone 'kay?" You ruffled Otis' fur before stepping out of the door.

You met up with your group of friends in the main hall of the shopping mall. Almost the whole class was there except for Todoroki and Katsuki. But you knew he would find it 'lame' to hang out with people on his own accord.

You hung close to Ochaco as the rest of your classmates split off in desperate directions. You Ochaco and Midoriya stood awkwardly silent as you where ditched by the rest of the excited 1-A.

Your green haired friend broke the silence first. "I need to get some more work out gear. What about you Ochaco?"

"Umm, well I only really need bug spray." She contemplated.

"Well now I just feel like a third wheel." You snorted slightly. Ochaco's face suddenly turned bright red and she rushed away at light speed. Midoriya looked quite shocked at her suddenly running away.

"Did I say something wrong?" He muttered.

"Pft no Midoriya you didn't say anything wrong. Stay right there I'll get her back!" You waved at him as you rushed to find your pink cheeked friend.

"Ochaco there you are! Why did you run off? Was it what I said? It's not a bad thing if you like him."

You spoke softly to her as she leaned against one of the upper floor railings, looking down to the main hall below. She whipped around to see you, her face still bright red.

"W-what? Y/n it's not like that!" She stuttered nervously and tried to fan her face with her hands to cool herself down.

"Oh come on you clearly have a crush on him, you shouldn't run away when you get embarrassed about it. It's not a bad thing Y'know?" You tilted your head, offering a friendly lob sided smile to her.

"You can talk! You always avoid the subject when I ask if you like Bakugo! Which you obviously do-MMMFHHH" you slammed your hand across her mouth and grabbed her by the shoulder to keep her still.

"Don't be silly! Come on let's get back to the broccoli boy as quickly as possible! He's waiting for you!" You laughed as loudly as possible to expel the nervous knot forming in your stomach.

The sight of the boy on the level of the mall below you caught your eye for a split second.

"You go ahead Ochaco. I'm gonna check something out quickly." You waved her off briefly before you cautiously leaned over the railing to get a better look. Midoriya was sat on a bench next to a man in a black hoodie that obscured his face. Something was wrong, on closer inspection you could see the mans hand wrapped around Midoriya's throat.

Your friend was shaking uncontrollably. Then your breath hitched as you saw Ochaco approach them. As quickly as possible you ran down the stairs to stand In front of the worrying scene. You balled your hands into fists ready to fight but became still when Midoriya shot you a shaky glance, as a warning not to make a scene.

You slowly lowered your hands as the hooded man shifted in his seat. Up close you got a better look at him, his hair was grayish-blue and messy and he had deathly pale, yellow toned skin. His eyes where bright red with heavy bags underneath them. He had multiple small scars and extremely chapped lips. He was intimidating to say the least.

The male released his tight grip around your friends throat. He began stalking towards you.

You didn't know who he was but Ochaco and Midoriya definitely did based on the way they reacted to him. You just knew he was bad news.

You stood your ground as he went to walk past you. He stopped right next to you, your shoulders inches away from each other.

His voice was raspy and irritating. "We where just talking about you too, shapeshifter."
