Part 36

~~Emile~~

"Can you go grab the paper plates from inside for me?" I ask Remy as the the sausages and burgers turn darker.

"Sure." He walks off with his coffee in hand.

I keep an eye on the food cooking in front of me before hearing an ear shattering shriek that I quickly identify as Remy.

"PAT, YOU MADE IT!" His voice calls from through the walls.

I think of what to do for a second...

The food will probably be fine.

I place the tongs down on the table beside me and rush to the front door to see Patton and his crush.

As soon as I make it through to the hallway I see Remy talking to Patton and a taller man that looks exactly like the photo Remy showed me earlier. I straighten my hair a little since it moved while I was running and make my way over to join the conversation.

"Hey Pat, glad you could make it!" He turns away from Remy and smiles at me.

"Hi Emile! This is my friend Logan." He gestures to the man beside him and smirks brighter.

"Logan Oakwood, pleasure to meet you." He gives a small smile and I can see Remy inspecting him to see if he's good enough for Patton.

This is gonna be a long barbecue...

"So Logan, do you have any hobbies?" Remy sips his coffee and stares Logan dead in the eyes.

Logan is going to feel very uncomfortable by the end of today.

"I like to read but I wouldn't say that I have many. I work a lot and that doesn't leave me a lot of free time." I can see Remy making mental notes while he prepares his next question.

I should stop him.

"Why don't you come inside? Everyone else is outside. It's right over here, follow me." I lead them out of the hallway and to the back garden.

Remy huffs but follows after us. He definitely isn't done interrogating Logan.

I need to check on the food.

"Rem, can you grab me the paper plates from inside please?" He nods and walks back inside.

I walk over the the barbecue and thankfully nothing is burnt.

I take a glance around me and everyone seems happy. We should host more things like this.

Remy walks over and places the pile of plates on the table beside me.

I move the burgers and sausages from the barbecue to a serving tray and set it down for everyone to eat.

"We should do more things like this Rem." He nods in agreement and half-smiles.

"I gotta go check on Pat, talk to you later babe." He gives me a peck on the cheek and runs off over to Patton and Logan who are chatting alone over by the food table.

I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose.

I can't let Remy harass them too much.

I take a plate and put a sausage on it before walking over to join Remy, Logan and Patton's conversation.

"So where do you work Logan?" Remy stares deep into Logan's soul from behind his sunglasses. Logan barely notices the stare and replies.

"As an office manager, where do you work?" Remy stops staring for a second to answer.

"I'm a detective." He says in a slightly threatening tone that it thankfully looks like Logan didn't pick up on.

After a few more awkward questions I see my opportunity and pull Remy away from them.

"Rems, I know that you're only doing this for Pat but you're making Logan uncomfortable with all those questions." I can feel him roll his eyes even though he has sunglasses on as he replies.

"It's fine, I have all the info I need. That nerd loves Pat back." I almost walk away before coming back and remembering what he said.

"He's what now? How can you tell?" He lets out a breath and sips his coffee.

"Babe, we're engaged. You should know that I can read people by now. He likes Pat, trust me." I look at Pat and Logan talking for a second and look back at Remy.

"Fine, I trust you. But don't make him more uncomfortable by going back over there." He gives me a small nod and tried to walk away. I pull his arm to stop him and he turns to me.

"So, does you not interfering Mena that Logan has your approval?" He thinks for a second and steal a glance at Logan and Patton. Patton is almost crying in laughter and Logan is laughing lightly and looking at Patton lovingly.

"Maybe, but if he ever hurts Patton I will destroy him." His voice turned stone cold for a second while he spoke before he sipped his coffee and went back to normal.

"I'm pretty sure Roman will have that taken care of my he time you get there." He nods in agreement.

-Timeskip to after the barbecue has ended-

~~Patton~~

Logan and I walk down the steps from Emile and Remy's house in a nice silence.

"Bye Pat, see you at work!" I turn and give him a small wave before turning back around and following Logan to his car.

We get in and start driving towards my apartment building.

I had fun tonight. It was clear that they was trying to get information on Logan but it was kinda funny to be honest.

I hope they liked him...

It's not like we're dating but I wouldn't want any of my friends to dislike each other anyway!

It wasn't until he parked the car at my building that I noticed we had arrived.

I get out and smile at him while we walk towards the apartment building.

"Night Lo!" I pull him into a hug and he hugs back slightly. I break away and turn to the door.

I feel him pull my hand.

"Patton wait."

This wasn't going to be a cliffhanger but it was way too tempting.
