Tempest

We walk on
An endless road,
And grimace
At the boiling heat.
Unbearable and unrelenting.

And then clouds
cover sky,
And the heavens release
A mighty roar
And clap!

It falls like an endless parade,
Come to welcome you home.
And the cold drops make
Something inside
Warm with relief.

Rain picks up
and you move.
Like someone,
possessed!
Dancing with wind
And living on clouds.

You smell soil and
Wetness in the air.
It pulls at you
In leaps and bounds
Like some seduction.

You hear trees swing
and rain falling.
Is it the laughter
Spilling out that's heard
Or just an endless gale?

Something breaks,
But it's reveled in
By holy madness.

And peace is not fleeting.
It is whole and unrestrained.
