Lonely

When your world falls apart,
And the flood gates are open.
When you're past your limit,
And it shows no signs of stopping.

The people will pity you,
relatives desert you,
And your old dog is in bad health.

If anyone even cares,
If they even know,
They just get in the way.

But you can hold tight to pain,
To exhaustion,
To rage,
To holding on.

You hold your dog and wish he won't go away.
You talk to friends in the hope that they can understand.
You look to family to help.

But there is no one to hold you.
There is no one to make you smile,
To make you laugh,
To make you happy...

There is only the world and the sorrows of it.
The journey is long and the road can be lonely.
But you hope that one day there will be light.
