Mukti's Room

Nandini knocked at the door and entered inside on not getting any answer. She saw Mukti laying on the bed and crying.

Nandini: (softly) Mukti

Mukti, hearing her voice stopped crying. She sat on the bed and looked at her. Nandini smiled and walked to her. She sat beside her and wiped her tears.

Mukti: Bhabhi, Aap gussa ho mujhse? I am sorry Bhabhi!

She sniffed and Nandini smiled.

Nandini: Mukti, I am not angry. I understand. You know right, I also have two brothers. I know what you are feeling, Mukti. You can share with me.

Mukti: (crying) Bhabhi, Bhai is not understanding my point of view.

Nandini knew Mukti was wrong but she couldn't point it out directly. She knew if she did than Mukti will take it in wrong sense.

Nandini: Mukti but you can try to make him understand, right?

Mukti: Yes but he shouts at me so loudly.

Nandini: (sigh) That's his nature! (under her breathe) Monster Manik!

Mukti: Bhabhi! You are also a girl. Aap btao apko bura nahi lagta tha?

Nandini: Lagta tha! Bilkul lagta tha. Infact bohut zyada! Par you know I understood the reason behind it. (softly) Mukti, you only say were you ever restricted to go any school trip? (Mukti nodded in no) Were you restricted to go to any college trip? (She again nodded in no) Were you ever restriced to enjoy with family?

Mukti stayed silent and Nandini pressed her hand silently and continued.

Nandini: Were you ever restricted for anything else than attending parties and nightouts?

Mukti nodded in no looking down making Nandini smile.

Nandini: Now tell me, Are your friends really good?

Mukti: Bhabhi!

Nandini: (calmly) No Mukti. Keep your hand on your heart and tell me are they really good? Do they care for their family and their feelings except few! I am not saying your company is bad. But you are too naive Mukti. I saw the way you came in Harshad's talk. Acha leave all that, tell me it is just three days and you already fought with your brother whom you know from birth. You believed him more than your brother. You know Manik, how he is. I agree he is impulsive. He gets angry but why this anger Mukti? For your safety only, right? Mukti, He cares for you. I know how these brothers are. You know once I had a fight with my bhai in our school and he was not talking to me. I started crying and one of his friend started laughing at him. You know what he did?

Mukti: (meekly) What?

Nandini laughed a little remembering that day.

Nandini: He punched that guy and broke his friendship with him. Than he got me an ice-cream and apologized. That's how brothers are Mukti. They are rude but for our safety. Don't take him wrong, Mukti.

Nandini cupped her cheek and Mukti sobbed realising her mistake. For a guy, whom she knew from three days she fought with her brother. The brother, who cares for her so much!

Mukti: I am sorry Bhabhi!

Nandini: (smile) Don't Say sorry baby. Talk to Manik and make him understand your pov.

Mukti: (looking down) I can't bhabhi! I did so wrong! How will I face him?

Nandini was about to say something but stopped as her eyes fell on the door. She saw Manik standing there crossing his arms against his chest staring at her.
