"Lucy would you please explain to everyone your idea." It was meant to be a question but it sounded more like a demand.
"Of course Dr Paige," Lucy got out of her seat and made her way to the head of the ridiculously long table "First off we have The Maze Trials, they are the biggest test that the subjects have ever been put through, they would be placed in the direct centre of a large maze and would be put up against different variables so we can observe there brain patterns and reactions." She explained with as much confidence as an 11-year-old can have.
"Told you she was a genius," Janson stated whilst looking proudly at his little prodigy, a hint of a smile graced his face for a split second. Not many of his co-workers knew why he liked Lucy so much seeing as he showed little to no affection to anyone else, only a few of the highest WICKED employees knew of their relationship to each other.
"Thank you, Janson," The small red-head grinned "Now The Scorch Trials are quite similar to The Maze Trials only instead of being in a maze they will be in the Scorch, they will have two weeks to go 100 miles north to the 'safe haven' and they will be put through variables again so we can analyse their brains." She concluded her explanation and returned to her seat with newfound confidence as the other 10 scientists and superiors clapped and nodded. She couldn't believe it, all these older smarter people liked her idea, hers!
The adults carried on conversing with one another but she drowned out the noise, instead, she focused on her brother's sour face that was directed right at her. She knew he wasn't the biggest fan of WICKED but he could at least be the slightest bit happy for her she thought.
"So are we all in agreement, Lucy will develop her idea with help from a few others and when it is completed we will begin to place the subjects into The Maze." A mixture of nods and yes's were all it took to make Lucy smile even wider than it already was. Everyone left the meeting room and went back to either their labs or their rooms. As it was quite late, Lucy tried to go to her room but was held back by a strong grip on her shoulder.
"Where are you going?" She turned around to meet the face, she recognised Janson's voice almost instantly.
"I was going to my room, is that okay?"
"I was thinking you could get started on the development of The Maze, we want to get the subjects in there as soon as possible." His voice sounded calm as it usually did.
"Can't it wait till tomorrow." She begged, flashing him her pleading eyes that he simply couldn't resist.
"Fine, but I want you up early tomorrow and working on it," He scowled and let go of her shoulder, she smiled and turned to continue walking to her room "Remember Lucy-"
"WICKED is good." She finished his sentence, the corners Janson's lips curled up forming an evil smirk.
"Exactly." He turned back on his heel and entered the lab where most of the crank testing happened.

The next day Eric, her brother, was assigned to help Lucy with the project of The Maze's architecture as well as two other kids around their age, Thomas and Teresa.
Before Thomas and Teresa got to the lab they were designated to work in Eric and Lucy were the only two their, since they had started living at WICKED the pair had drifted apart slightly as Lucy got closer to Janson.
An awkward 5 minutes passed of Lucy draping strands of hair behind her ear and occasionally looking up to meet her brother's big, blue eyes glaring at her. She decided to finally speak up.
