"Come on A5, where are you." She repeated to herself, the same anxiety she felt yesterday had returned. She began pacing her room as thoughts danced freely around her head. What if they took him today instead of tomorrow? What if I don't get the chance to say bye?

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud knock at her door, she was about to answer when a body was thrown into her room. A5's body.

"Waiting for someone were you?" Janson's said as he stepped over A5's bruised body.

"Wh- what did you do to him," Her voice came out no louder than a whisper, she tried to go to his side to make sure he was okay but was stopped by 2 guards who had snuck behind her "Get off me!" She cried out.

"You disobeyed me, Lucy, and you know how much I hate it when people don't listen to me." Janson's voice sounded crazed and his expression was free of any emotion.

"Get off!" Lucy repeated but the guard's grip around her only tightened.

"Seeing as you so desperately wanted to see this little lab rat, " She furrowed her eyebrows as he called A5 a lab rat "You can be with him as we give him the swipe."

Her eyes went from Janson to A5 fighting to stay conscious. Before she had a chance to object she was dragged out of her room and pulled down the corridor, Eric was still in his office so could see everything that was going on. When he saw his sister screaming to be let go he jumped and ran to help her.

"What the hell is going on here!" He shouted as he tried to run to Lucy, he was stopped almost instantly by Janson.

"Go to your room, Eric." Janson declared patronisingly.

"Not until you tell me why you're dragging my sister away, " he finally saw A5 being dragged out of her room "And why the fuck is he practically unconscious!"

"Go to your room... Eric." His voice was more assertive this time and he followed after the two teens being pulled into a lab. Before Eric could run into the room the door was slammed and locked shut.

"Please, " She weeped, for what she didn't know. Lucy knew this had to be done but she hadn't expected to have to watch the boy she loved have his memory of everything wiped.

"Get him ready for the surgery." Janson demanded and he kept his eyes on the crying girl in front of him.

The scientists took A5 into another room and stripped him, placing him onto a cold, metal table and rolled it back into the room where Lucy was. Before they went back into the room they placed a sheet over his lower body to give him some sort of privacy.

"Proceed." Janson smirked and the scientists began poking and prodding the boy with god knows what. The guard's grip around Lucy tightened every time she squirmed.

10 minutes of needles going into A5's body went by and Lucy had run out of tears, her voice was almost gone and she could only manage to say a few words at a time.

What felt like hours to Lucy went by and they were moments away from wiping his memory. She heard a soft voice call out to her.

"L- Lu." She looked down to see A5 fighting to keep his eyes open.

"A5." She smiled dimly and then remembered the situation they were in. Janson must've had a change of heart because he signalled for the guards to let her go to him.

She turned around baffled as the grip around her loosened but didn't hesitate to run to the boy.

"Lu." He tried to reach his hand to caress her face one last time but he physically didn't feel he could move a single muscle. Instead, she grabbed his hand and squeezed it as tight as she could. Tears were flowing from both of their eyes as they spent their final moment with each other.

"I'll, I'll make sure you're safe, I promise, I wont let anything bad happen to you in there." She sobbed and A5 smiled gently. He trusted that she would keep him safe and even though he wouldn't remember her, he knew he would always remember how deeply he loved her.

Lucy quickly glanced around at everyone and all their eyes were on the pair, she could almost see a tear in a few of the scientist's eyes. She knew she wouldn't get another chance to do it so she leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on A5's lips for the last time. He kissed back with all the strength he had but when Lucy pulled back his eyes were closed and his hand had gone limp in hers.

A tear escaped her eyes and she exhaled deeply. She stepped back to stand beside the guards, sending death glares to Janson the entire time. She knew she couldn't hate him but right now she was feeling something pretty damn close to hate.

"Do it." Everyone in the room was shocked that she had given the order to do so but they didn't wait to be told a second time. They placed the chip deep in A5's brain and one final tear left Lucy's eyes, that was it, all of the feelings and memories of the two were gone, nothing... might as well of not even happened.

After they stitched his head back up they rolled him to where they would give him his maze clothes and put him the box to be sent up. Lucy returned to her room but not before giving Janson a dirty look for the last time tonight.

Eric was still waiting impatiently outside the door and bombarded Lucy with questions as soon as she stepped foot into the corridor.

"Lu, are you alright?" She gave into her restraints and dove into his arms, violently sobbing "Hey hey hey, shhh. It's okay, it's going to be okay. I'm here for you." He comforted although he knew there was no point. He held her silently for just under a minute.

"E-eric." Lucy finally piped up.

"Yeah?" He looked down at her red, puffy face.

"Can you stay in my room tonight?" She pleaded. He didn't hesitate to nod his head as he knew she needed the comfort.

The siblings headed back to Lucy's room and got into her bed, Eric stayed on top of the covers and grabbed a blanket for some sort of warmth.

"Do you, do you wanna talk about it?" Eric asked quietly, she didn't have to think about it before she shook her head.

Minutes go by of silence as the two laid on her bed, breathing being the only noise in the room.

"Eric." She whispered gently, her voice still dry and croaky from the sobbing.

"Yeah, Lu, " He turned his head.

"Thank you." She meant to smile but given the situation, she didn't feel physically capable.

"For what?" He was only slightly confused by what she said.

"For being here, for always being here for me no matter how crappy of a person I am." She croaked out.

"What are big brothers for eh?" He chuckled and was successful in getting a smile out of the red-headed girl, whether it was fake or not.

"I love you, ya dingus."

"I love you too dumbass." Eric turned his back on Lucy and he was soon asleep unlike Lucy. She didn't get a single second of sleep that night, or the following nights. Her life already felt different without A5, she felt different without A5.
