Lucy woke up gasping for air as if she had been suffocating, she tried to sit up but felt a pair of muscly arms wrapped around torso. She followed the arms to meet A5's face and her eyes widened.
"A5.' She nudged him trying to wake him up but all he responded with was a quiet grunt. The girl looked towards her window that showed the outside world, it was still dark so she knew she had at least a few more hours until she had to get up.
She turned around, still in A5's strong grip, and rested her head on his chest soon re-entering the world of sleep.
A5 woke up and felt pressure on his chest that he didn't feel when he fell asleep. He looked down to see Lucy's vibrant, red hair sprawled across his chest and shoulder and one of her legs resting in-between his. Her left arm was draped over his abdomen lazily and her face was buried so deep into his chest that he worried if she could breathe or not.
He laid in the bed and just watched the girl in his arms rest. She seemed so at ease when she was asleep, not trying to be anything for anyone, just being herself... and herself was beautiful to A5. She looked even younger than she was when she slept, probably because the girl already had a major babyface.
After a couple of minutes, Lucy stirred awake and automatically looked up to see A5 smiling down at her.
"Mornin' love." Lucy shielded his mouth, confusing the blond boy that now was struggling to breathe.
"Morning breathe," She said simply and he rolled his eyes playfully "And also good morning to you too."
She sat up and threw her legs over the edge of her bed.
"You need to go back to your room." She put emphasis on who's room.
"Do I though? I could just hide in here forever and they wouldn't find me, I wouldn't have to go to The Maze." Lucy couldn't tell whether or not he was joking.
"You know we can't do that, and plus I'll be watching over you when you get there so nothing bad will happen to you I'll make sure of it." She leant back to him and quickly pecked his lips "Now come on." She took his hands and pulled him out of bed.
"Okay fine, I'll come tonight to say goodbye." He started to climb back into the vent when Lucy called something to him.
"Make sure you do." She giggled as she waved and went to go and get ready for her day.

"Morning, Lu." Multiple scientists said to her as she walked into the same room full of screens. The girl politely waved back to them.
She saw Eric from across the room and went over to him.
"Hey, dickwad." She said joyfully as she sat down next to her brother.
"First off, rude, second off, what's got you in a good mood this morning?" He raised his eyebrows when he saw her freeze up.
"N-nothing definitely nothing, no person absolutely no person at all." She rambled and Eric cringed dramatically at her awkwardness.
"I never said anything about a person so clearly it was a person, spill." Lucy's memories of last night were a blur.
"Was it Thomas?" Lucy's eyes shot up to her brother and he pointed to the brown-haired boy who had just walked into the room.
"No, it was not Thomas!" She got defensive but continued to pray that he didn't guess right, she didn't know if he knew she wasn't meant to see A5.
"Are you sure about that, I've seen the way he looks at you." The look of bewilderment was enough to make Eric laugh.
"Wha- what, how does he look at me?" Lucy was sure she didn't like Thomas in whatever way Eric was insinuating but she couldn't help but be curious.
"Like he's looking at you right now." They both turned to look at Thomas and her brother made a good point. Before he got the opportunity to look down Lucy took a mental snapshot of his face. He looked at her like A5 had looked at her for the past month.
"What are you trying to say." The siblings turned their faces back to each other.
"I'm saying he definitely likes you, I can tell when a guy likes a girl and anyway stop trying to change the subject." If she was honest Lucy had completely forgotten what they were originally talking about.
"And what was that?" Eric rolled his eyes at his little sister's stupidity.
"What's got you in a good mood."
"Do I need to have a reason to be happy for once?" Her voice sounded like she was accusing him of something.
"No, but I know you and I know that you're never happy for no reason. Especially not in the shit hole." Lucy quickly took a finger to his lips, shushing him.
"Be careful." She discreetly pointed up to the camera in the corner of the room, she knew they were always recording everything everyone said and she didn't want her brother getting into any trouble.
"If I want you to know why I'm in a good mood, I'll damn tell you." She smirked and walked to her desk.
"Hey, Lu," Thomas said as she sat next to him, seeing her happy put a smile on his face.
"Hey T." He raised an eyebrow at his new nickname, only causing Lucy to giggle.
They sat in silence for a few minutes as Lucy got settled into her work. Her smile was lost when she started to watch The Maze.
"What's up?" He asked. Lucy was surprised by the genuine worry in his voice.
"Tomorrow I'm going to be sat here watching A5 in there." She gestured to the large screen in front of them. Thomas had to stop himself from saying or doing anything he'd regret.
"It'll be fine Lu, you'll have me." He tried to offer her some support.
"I know..." She gave him a fake smile and turned back to The Maze "I just wish I never made it." She said the last bit quietly hoping nobody would hear but, of course, Thomas heard her loud and clear.
He looked back to her face and saw tears forming in her big blue eyes. When they started falling she made no noise. Thomas gently wrapped his hands around one of her smaller ones.
"It wasn't just you, we helped make it, I helped make it." He stroked the top of her hand with his thumb comfortingly.
"I know but it was my idea and-" She was cut off.
"And nothing, we all did it so don't just blame yourself for it." She sighed deeply and Thomas saw a hint of a smile on her lips so he smiled at her like he as if showing her how to do it.
"Alright lovebirds." Eric whistled from across the room when he saw the two, the entire room turned to stare at him.
"Shut up." She flipped him off and turned back to work.
