After a long day I'm finally home—not that I want to be. But it's not like I have anyplace else to go. I'm laying on my couch with Luna lying on my chest and have been trying to read the same couple of pages for a half an hour.
Which obviously isn't working.
So I scoop up my cat and stand up, placing her back down on the couch. I stretch and shuffle through my satchel to find something to do—only to close it again a minute later. Trying to sleep wasn't working either because one, it is only 5 in the afternoon, and two because my stomach was practically swallowing itself. Sighing I got up. If I wasn't going to sleep at least I'd go grocery shopping.
I was still in my jeans so I threw on my gym shoes and grabbed my keys and wallet. I put my phone in my pocket and locked the door leaving Luna meowing behind it. When I got to my car my phone buzzed. My mood immediately changed and I connected it to my car speaker, instantly feeling better as the familiar voice spoke to me.
"Hey sis." she said lowly making me frown.
"Hey what-uhm-what's up?" I put my hands on the wheel and drove out of the apartment parking lot.
"Well don't sound so nervous hun." I scoffed and started pouting.
"I'm not."
"You're always nervous, you always were. But everything is fine don't worry—and stop pouting." I looked at the speaker in my car like it had her face on it giving me that look, but I didn't answer just rolled my eyes.
"What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking—how can I not worry when you told me that you basically might die and—how can you be fine when you're whispering like you could be hurt or something an"— before I could finish I heard her boisterous laughter erupting from her side. Then I heard someone shush her.
"Ok ok I'm sorry—the reason I'm talking low is because I just put Oliver down for a nap. But really everything is fine, we were really worried at first but they had me come in for another test and everything checked out." The amount of relief that washed over my body as she said that make my head sigh out.
"Oh thank god."
"I'm sorry I haven't been answering either, olive has a cold."
"Aww I'm so sorry to hear that. Could I do something or get him something while I'm out?"
"Oh yeah sure that would be great! I just need you to get him some vicks and pick up his prescription for me."
"Alright yeah I got it, I'll be there soon."
"Okay I love you, be safe."
"I love you too." I pressed the button to end the call just as I pulled into the CVS parking lot and decided that I'd get groceries another day.

Pulling into my sister's driveway I grabbed the bag that held the vicks, his medicine, and a little treat for taking it and got out to knock. After a few seconds the familiar brunette came to the door and pulled me into a bone crunching hug. When she let me go I took a dramatic deep breath and we both smiled as she pulled me in. Leading me into the kitchen of the cluttered but airy house, it was still light outside so the house was well lit naturally.
The wind that blew through the open window smelled like fall and I couldn't help but be entranced in that feeling of warmth and still. The feeling didn't last that long though. Long fingers snapped in front of my face and I shook out of my dissociation to see my brother in law all wide eyed and his grinning face just like olive except he had his mother's, nose, and texture of hair. Unlike Tony with his green eyes and straight, blonde, hair Oliver had my sister's long curly hair, and beautiful brown eyes. His skin was a beautiful shade of light brown while his own curly hair was dirty blonde.
