Chapter 26; Work and Mario Kart

*Hawks POV*

Tenko had stopped talking to me a few hours ago, something about being busy with something important. Which left me not doing anything important. I just started watching the TV and waited for Touya to come back.

I caught the phone on the third ring and answered it seeing that it was Rumi.

"Alright, so you remember how I had said that the Hero's Commission said you could take a few days off?" This can't be good.

"Mhm."

"Well, about that. They said that we apparently need you out there today because your reasoning wasn't considered valid to not be going to work."

"Of fucking course." I muttered, falling back onto the bed with a long sigh. "Right when I have days off."

"I tried reasoning with them, I really did. It's stupid, but apparently since you didn't get any horrible injuries they think you should still be working." She sighed.

"It's alright. You tried, and I appreciate that. Besides, it won't hurt to go out today. I'll be fine."

If only that was true.

"Hawks, why haven't you been to work for the last week? And you didn't call it in?" Of course I was being yelled at. It was sooo irresponsible for me to now call in saying I wasn't going to be going into work while I was being HELD CAPTIVE! Yep, all my fault.

"I was kidnapped. I had no way to contact you guys. Miruko let you guys know my explanation for not being there."

"But how could we know that you weren't in hiding?" Could they hire anyone more dense?

"Because I have the cuts to prove it." I stated, trying to not explode. This was insane! I was being lectured like a kid after being held against my will for a week.

"Still. You didn't call when you got back instead, Miruko was the one who alerted us."

"And I am sorry that wasn't the first thing on my mind after escaping."

"I know you are a younger hero, but you are still the number two. We need you to show the word that heros are still good. The public trusts you, so if you are in trouble you need to let us know. You can't go around like you're some sort of rebelious teenager. The hero job is more important than you realize."

"I know this, I have been raised with these ideals drilled into my head day after day. I think I know them better than anyone else." I said, grinding my teeth together. "Now, if I am permitted to leave, I would like to get something done."

I was perched a top of a building when my phone had dinged. I didn't have many contacts on my phone, and most of them were heros. I was expecting it was Tenko, but instead it was an unknown number.
