Chapter 35; Blood and Secrets

*Dabi POV*

"No it's not that." She paused, looking me in the eye. "It's about Shigaraki."

My eyes widened slightly before I sat down on the floor using one knee as a rest. I glanced up at her and took in her face. She looked worried, and her eyes had the look of guilt in them.

"Alright. What is it?" I asked, looking straight into her eyes. She then glanced away.

"I know who's Shiga's soulmate is." She said not looking directly at me.

"Okay, and how did you figure that out?"

"Well, I'm not sure if it's surprising or not, but he keeps these journal things. They were on his desk, and I read through some of them. It's like he's writing to his soulmate through them." She looked up to me as she talked.

"Well, who's his soulmate then?"

"Shh, I'm getting to that." She said with a sudden grin on her face. The mood shift was a little surprising, but it was soon forgotten as she continued to speak.

"The first time I read them, he caught me and said if I told anyone, he would kill me. But he never said anything about continuing to read them. After that time, he hid them, but I found them. Dabi, you're. His soulmate is you." She finally finished.

I felt a different rush of emotions. At first, I felt confused, But Hawks is my soulmate, and I am his? Then I figured it out. Unrequited love. I was his soulmate, but he was not mine. A wave of weird anger flooded through me, but I didn't know what exactly I was mad at. Toga for waiting to tell me, or Shigaraki for not telling me at all. Was I angry at the fact that I was his soulmate? I didn't know.

"Before you get all worked up about it, there's more." That's fucking great. "It's about Hawks." That made my attention focus on her once more, but every word she said felt as if she was tightening some sort of spring inside me bringing it closer and closer to snapping.

"He wrote that he gave him his number and was texting him under a different name, Tako or Tenka or something." I could feel her words tightening, but I needed to know why.

"He said he was going to figure out how to get rid of him to keep you safe. He has been going out to see him, but I didn't know about the meetings or else I would have said something sooner." I snapped.

I could feel my entire body get hot, but I refused to show my anger in that form.

"Why are you just now telling me? If Hawks was in danger, why would you keep that from me?"

"No, you don't understand. He-"

"No Toga. Where is he?"

"Shigs?"

"Yes, where is he?"

"He left a few hours ago. I had a chance to read the papers again. He's doing it tonight." I stormed out of the room heading straight to mine and picked up the phone, ignoring Toga the entire time.
